new skis

i am new to skiing this year. just switched over from snowboarding. as my first year i can spin 360s no problem, can do some small rails, and can ride switch no problem. i have been looking for a good set of twin tips but i cant decide and need some advice. i have narrowed my search to the PEs(169), concepts(165), or 1080s(161 or 171). i am 5 foot 9.5 and weigh 125 lbs. based on how new i am, and my size, what should i do and why?

def. not the 161 1080's, too smal in my opinion. if you get em up on groomers at speed they will chatter like craxy. the 171cm would be ok though. pe's are good, as are concepts.

....west

If I knew that the only think I would want these skis for was the park, then go with the 1080 161. But more of an 'investment' level, the 171 will suit you better on all mountain and will give you room to get a beer belly and still give you float. I'm assuming you're from Brighton OUT WEST and not the trash pile in Michigan? In which case all the more reason to go with the 1080 171....some flotation would be nice when you think 'HEY, I wanna ski the dough today'.

those are excellent choice...you've been doing some research, but the 1080 in 161 cm is too short for you...good luck...

the 171cm 1080's are a good choice, but the PE's are sweet too. the PE's are cheaper than the 1080's, so if you're only gonna use em in the park, the PE's are a good choice. good luck yo

concepts... they own, you can ski EVERYTHING in them

Whoever thought 'gee i wonder if i can ride down an icy hill with wooden planks strapped to my feet?' is a genius...

plus i heard 1080's are a little soft, i like stiffness

If you can find a pair of the candide concepts, go for 'em, they flat-out rule.

from my experience, stay away from marker, they are heavy, and break easily, looks are sick for park and they are pretty cheap. as for skis, i ride pe's and love em, best ski ive ridden and ive owned teneightys and concepts, pe's are sick as hell! peace

I thought the same thing until this binding. It's something like 14% lighter than a 912Ti. I have a friend in the mogul circuit on them, beats the shit out of 'em... they've held up for 3 months so far (which is a record for him)

There are a ton of people that think Markers SUCK. I however, think that every binding has its advantages and disadvantages. I think that if you're looking at spending enough money to get a good binding, then you won't go wrong with any looks, rossi, salomon, or marker for that matter. BUT, I do think that markers (even WITH the new pistons) have AT LEAST their fair share of probs.
