New skis.... Which bindings

I just got a new pair of salomon czars. Now i need to get some bindings. I like the STH bindings on my dumonts but for a backcountry ski i was kinda thinking touring bindings for skinning.

Are there any disadvantages to touring bindings?

Which should i get?

Thanks

if you're thinking of going the AT route, marker barons are as solid as they come. pricey as hell, but solid

it depends on what you really want to do. if you're planning on landing switch in the backcountry you may want to go with dukes since they're damn solid but also heavy. if you plan on doing a lot of skinning and touring around, you may want to look at something along the lines of the Diamir Fritschi or Naxo NX21 bindings. both are light and work great for ripping lines. not the greatest for landing switch though.

if you see yourself doing a very small amount of touring, just rock STH's with trekkers if you like those bindings to begin with

if you have backcountry knowledge and plan on getting out into the bc somewhat often, get dukes. they're an alpine binding with a touring capability so you don't sacrifice much in terms of going down

if you plan on touring 50% of the time and you're not a very big guy/aggressive skier, look into a freeride+ or naxo

If these will be 100% touring skis, get dynafits

or buy some fritses (sp?) their a really solid touring binding my rents have them and they are probably better than the markers

fritschi's are not burlier than markers, but they're good for people doing more touring and who aren't skiing super aggressive

Advantage- Easier to tour with (duh)Disadvantage- Suck more to ski on, especially if you go with a super light one.
I just don't like touring bindings. That being said I have heard about some pretty bullet proof ones. I think marker makes a pretty damn good one.

If i were you i would get a pair of Marker M11's . i have a pair of salomon teneightys with these on them and they ROCK!! plus the m11 has a relatively low price and looks sick

i probably wouldn't listen to 3/4 of the responses in this thread

first off, m11.0's are probably the worst bindings ever created and they are not touring bindings and unless you weigh

Go to TGR for more info. But the only disadvantage to AT bindings is the added weight. And look at the Marker Barons and Dukes. Also check out the Fritschi Freerides
