i just read it on nonski gab. finally, we did it fellas. SSX 4. all these years of confusion and upsetting paid off. WE HAVE A SKIING GAME. this is unbelievable. unrealistic the game might be, who cares. we can finally throw cork 12's and shit, and it'll be on skis. this makes me so happy. buy the game, so it continues fellas

Exactly. this is the future. small strides. small strides. finally some other kids in the real world will realize that skiing is cool. we could be making major steps here. this is really good for this core sport

I already got my own skiing game. Its the new version of FREESKI. Its like freeski in the aspect that it has skiing and big yeti monstars in it. But we took some ideas from Doom 3 and made the monsters more realistic. It uses the Havok/Unreal/etc. engine so the graphics are absolutely stellar. This is that big yeti monster in action because our main character didn't straight line fast enough:

Yeah that spread eagle looks really 'core' Go buy Mosleys Mad Trix. Its not the best, but it is a skiing game. Its been out for a while so I'm not following why your saying 'FINALLY'.

it looks like its gonna make skiing look lame. i mean, i have respect for the huge spread, but, way to continue the sterotypes with the straight legs and super long skis. i hope they change some of that and refine it more to newschool.

Oh god. As good of a step that may be. It's not what was needed for the first step.

As said by 4fntskier, the ski choices will be red, green, blue, or orange. Meaning no licensed equipment, skiers, or gear.

This will also lead to people looking at skiing, like SSX snowboarding, fake and unrealistic. I mean it's a cool start, but we need something similar to Amped/THUG 1.

But whatever, its progress

whatever. Ill buy it. who cares what others think bout us? there are enough people in the sport now to keep it developing, and people who ski twins wont go back to snowboarding. I actually want our industry to stay small and not hugely commercialized and be the "cool" thing to do. Id much rather hear kids talking shit then you completly show them up and theyre like Whoaaaaaa. I say lets keep the industry small and keep that unique feeling it has had. I am amped about a new ski game though, very much over do

i hope it comes out for xbox, they obviously didn't have ne skiers on the design team though, i mean look wtf their wearing

It's SSX. All fake gear and lots of out-of-place clothing.

If you haven't played SSX before, realize it is totally unreal and arcade-ish. What it lacks in realism it makes up in style. Giant 360 grabs and double super-uber trick 900s all look pretty cool in the end. The courses are filled with 300 foot jumps and mile long rails going up and down cliff faces. The music is mixed on the fly and always flows with however you are riding. The sound effects are fantastic, I love the boom the boards make on landing. The sensation of speed is there.

Seriously, all EA needs to do is dump skiers in there with the right animations and it should be awesome, but I expect they will go beyond that...

 
yea dude, the first amped was really good and realistic. id rather have a game like that. but if the media relizes that skiing games sell pretty good, theyll start makin better ones.

fuck why cant it be like amped 2, realistic, i guess its a good thing, but fuck it could also suck, then discourage any other companies from making a ski game ever again. Look at rollerblade games, or the dave mirra series

amped 1 was not realistic amped 2 was however. as for this man this is better than nothing. i will probably try and find it cos it will most prob go on special for like $20 cos noone else will want too buy it so what the hey.

EA is not lookin for a perfect skiing game to appeal to the freeski movement. they're looking to broaden there demographic and gain sales by incorporating it. Tony hawk pro skater is not all that realistic and it is the biggest grossing extreme sports game ever. this is a step towards the future. in no way will it diminish our sport. if it turns off some random kid in Florida, so what. it's not going to stop the future of some skier who wants to play a videogame.

yea there was a thread about the "tony hawk effect". Some years ago, if a skater did a 180 kickflip or something over a 7 step stair, everyone was standing in aw. But now, after the tony hawk games, where anyone playing the game can pull a switch misty 7 madonna to stalefish on the same set up, skateboarding lost a lot of his flair.

same with dave-mirra, its hard to see a quadriple backflip 1440 with 4 or 5 grabs (while gettin out 90 ft out of the pipe) in real life. It destroyed the whole thing, although its a good game, maybe one of the best sport games.

So, its not easy, do you make a game for a small group of people (newschoolers) that is realistic or do you add some stuff and sell it to everyone...

hell no matter how bad it could be its still on the possitive side, this means that companies are finnaly taking notice of skiers. I hope though that this isnt going to be another Jonny Moseleys because we all know that Jibberish is much better.

If SSX 4 has the same quality as SSX 3 no one will be disappointed except realism fans...

Yes, as a matter of fact - I do rule my own little universe...
 
Personally, I couldn't care less about the implications for further skiing games, as I've gotten along fine without them thus far. I just don't want to have to wince in pain when I'm playing the thing and my skiier lays down a tweaked-out daffy.
