I have been skiing since I was 3. went to snowboarding at 10 and am now back to skiing. I just got myself a pair of 2009 Dynastar twin tips with marker bindings. I want to start skiing park. I already have been going off jumps not afraid to hit them with speed. I was wondering what I should start off doing. I havent learned to ski switch yet but im going this thursday and one time this weekend and want to know what I should maybe try. Las time I went I couldnt even get on a small rail in my mountains rail park.

Im going to Shawnee these upcomming days if anyone goes to that crap mountain.

just get real comfortable skiing switch, learn how to turn and shit then go for 180s. just practice practice practice.

Yeah the normal park is pretty decent if you ask me. until people ride over there lips. thats why im skipping school. no gapers go then,

a 3 is a big goal on the east coast for 1st day.

try 1, carve switch a bit, if comfy go for a switch 1(body almost automatically goes into it) and a box, if comfy rail.

Welcome to afterbang one must embrace afterbang and become with the afterbang this is all you will need to know about skiing park

best post ive ever seen on NS, but only because you actually didnt know. and you would be surprised actually, most skiers find landing switch easier. give it a try... i would start 1s

Afterbang is an art known by all but mastered by few. some of the greatest range from tom wallisch to phil casabon. once achieved the simplest tricks can be made to look like the greatest thing ever accomplished. I wish you well on your journey to enlightenment

ill just afterbang it up and feel all cool ause everyone that goes to shawnee sucks major dick. except the one kid threw a 7 down last time i went.

See this is where the art of afterbang comes into play. should you afterbang a 3 you will look much steezier then this 7 fellow and get mad bitches

That kid was prolly dan skibber, hes a dirty mo' fo' heres a short clip of him:
he can now spin 9's... U go to tanglwood? where you at?

dont try to be a park rat, you will suck dude.

just get comfortable shredding around and playing around switch. pop off a few features to feel out the flight/landing. once your real confident, start spinning.

like i said, just shred.

its a good idea to get an all around feel when first getting back into it, but i feel people put too much emphasis on trying to be the best "all around" skier they can be. dont worry about turning into a park rat if you like park because you should ski exactly the way you want to. just try it all and go with what makes you happy

but yeah to answer your original question my advice would be to start small enough to where you can confidently commit to what youre trying
