New Ski Pole Company

I started a carbon fiber ski pole company with some homies, and would love some help from NewSchoolers. Background, we are Utah based company of passionate skiers. The goal of the company is to get to a point where we can contribute back to the ski community— help sponsor rail jams, projects, and support skiers. We could use some help with three things.

1. Skiers. If you’re nice with it (or even if you’re not, but you’re hyped on the poles), reach out to us and we would love to work something out to get you poles. Message us here or @jib.sticks on Instagram.

2.If you want to buy ski poles, use code NS15 for 15% off.

3. A simple follow on the gram @jib.sticks

4. Peep our website and some of our products Www.jibsticks.com

Are they very strong? I just broke some leki poles :)

I won’t say our poles are indestructible, but they’re very solid! We broke several different prototypes to get to our final product. They’ve been tested in the park, back country, and streets- we are very happy with them! If you get them and have issues message us- we will take care of you.

Dope to see brands get their start from here. I have 3 things to say

1. low profile grips

2. That name ain't it

3. Night Hawk hoodie is swag

look awesome. can they be safely cut down or do you not recommend?

I wouldn’t recommend cutting them- resealing the carbon fiber properly would be difficult and carbon fiber splinters suck. We do go down to a 100cm pole though, and they are very light.

ok, good to know. thanks

also, NS15 code doesn't appear to work at the moment

Product looks really good and price-point is competitive. Nice work.

Personally not a fan of the Ferrari Logo, I think you can do a better job there with something original. The name works well in my opinion though.

What's your selling story vs. Joystick?

the name is very similar to joy stick, i really think you should try and find something more unique. I can foresee more casual skiers confusing joy stick and jib stick very easily given only 2 of the 8 letters are different.

Not trying to piggy back or copy joy stick in anyway. The name is going to stay the same cause we like it, it embodies the type of skiing we like, plus at this point it’s too late to go back.

Same with the Marlboro/God Father/Ferrari inspired logo. It’s simple, clean, it makes me wanna go fast, and feels G. We hope to do more creative things like the night hawk, just staying simple for the early releases. Hopefully there will be some cool “special edition poles” in the future.

Selling point vs joy stick. Different materials that are lighter, strong, and more unique. Ultimately, there’s not much you can improve on with a ski pole. The biggest “why” i can see in buying jib sticks over joystick is because we’re a company that wants to support your skiing. Our goal isn’t to get rich, we just want an avenue to support skiing. We would love to someday help sponsor rail jams, video contests, or whatever we can to make the ski community more fun. This is corny, but the ultimate goal in my eyes would be a skier seeing another skier with jib sticks and there’s unspoken connection that you know the other skier is a homie.

we definitely thought about lower profile/bmx grips, but it’s hard to make work on a ski pole. If you know someone who makes grips made to fit a smaller diameter, hit us up (seriously)! The cork does feel very nice in your hand though. I like feeling like I’m holding something and I like ridges my for fingers haha. Give them a try and you might like them.

They look pretty dope. I would for sure slap some bmx grips on em. Even branded ones would be kinda cool. I’d be stoked to see a pole with an odi or tld grip. Also are the baskets light too? I snatched some black diamond poles the other day and they were super light but had heavy ass baskets and I was kinda like that defeats the purpose of the light pole. My fingers were not strong enough for em :(

just a few thoughts

If I were you I’d steal the Line Grab tab they have on some of their poles. Super functional, I totally love that feature but hate line. So I’d be happy to switch brands.

Also yea I agree. Switch the name up, too obvious. I’ll try to think of something, I just cracked a beer

People cut carbon bike handlebars and steerer tubes all the time. Wrap the side you want to keep good with masking tape, cut on the tape line with a fine toothed hacksaw blade. Lightly sand and you should be good to go.

They have powder baskets, but the baskets are light!

isn't this what Joystick also does? They at least used to support a ton of skiers and events,

hot lunch was great.

I think it would look good if the branding was printed in black or dark grey so it was super low profile on the pole. Or it would look pretty dank in that reflective paint that shows up more under direct light at night, plus you could do a cool flash photography shoot to promote them. It would be rad if you could somehow adapt lock on grips, then people could mix and match colours or whatever. I like the cork and it will weather really nicely but low profile grips are super helpful when doing grabs.

Love this. We actually looked at doing some with a reflective logo. We hope to have more options for styles in the future!

They’re available now at www.jibsticks.com we would love to fulfill your order now or in the future!

Honestly I don’t like the name but I appreciate that you’re focused on the community and that’s way more important. Would you consider making extendable poles at some point?

Extendable/Adjustable poles are most likely going to happen in the future. We want to make sure we have the budget to make/create a quality product when we do. Once we can offer a quality adjustable pole at a good price point for you guys we want to have that as an option.

that's dope. I have a pair of extendo k2 poles rn but when they inevitably break I'll probably buy a pair. Would way rather support a company like yours rather than any of the big companies

Poles arrived. Perfect ‘dagger’ size for park skiing. Can confirm they’re quite light.
