New ski game, inspired by the TGR Tracks game

WOOO!!!

Technically, the skier is not faster. The whole game is running faster (which is exactly what I wanted to happen when I changed how the tracks are stored) so it looks like he is moving faster.

I'm not sure why the skier is resetting after zooming out. The game stops while you are zoomed out. Maybe you were about to crash when you paused, so when you unpaused you crashed and it looked like a reset? Please let me know if you can find a pattern like that.

I'm not sure what is up with shaking.

no... i wont even be off the ground... like heading towards a cliff, press the zoom button to see where im going and then let it go and ive been reset somewhere else... im using firefox

Yup, im using Firefox and it was faster yesterday, but it's still playable. On IE it seems to be fast all the time. Anyways, it's a great game. Maybe add some random events, avalanches, bears :D Oh and it would be cool if the character crashes, his skis would come off and he comes tumbling down.

Keep it progressing.

Mine doesn't work as well anymore. Its realy slow causing lag (probably the shacking problem as some others)

Im using PC and Firefox

I love this game but there are too many random little cliffs (combine a couple of them to make a wide cliff?) and not enough flow and open space between them .Its almost too busy now. I like the 1 narrow chute to ski through but more would be fun. But Generally its still super fun.

are you using macromedia flash to make this? i remember trying that once, hard as hell when you don't know all that coding stuff...

what cliff can you do something like that off. I thought i did quad loop once but noticed that i touched the snow for a millisecond before jumping again.

i did it on the old version, skiers left jumping across the cliff halfway down from left to right, but i havnt done it yet in this one

Made some small changes today. Please let me know if it faster or slower, more or less shakey, or stuff like that. Zooming out is definitely still a bit weird, but it will be pretty cool for something I hope to work on later tonight.

Yes, this made in Flash. More levels will varieties of cliffs and stuff will come. Rails I'm not too concerned about yet, there is a lot of other stuff I want to do first.

and the biggest spin so far is a 1770. There have been quite a few spins around 1260. 540s are really popular, lots of people stomping them.

One thing i miss from TGRs game is the bomb holes you make when you land, they should be made:)

YES! that would be awesome. it would be cool if some of the cliffs were lined up to jump over each other so you went HUUGGEE

I would be so stoked if there were 4 or 5 more chutes to ski through. On the clifs theres no difficulty but having some chutes would make it sick as.

a couple suggestions about speed

1. when you are traversing, you should be able to gain speed

2. when straight lining you should be able to gain speed. not much tho cuz that could get kinda ridiculous but maybe just a little to mix it up

other than that, i love everything about it. i just waitin for those grabs which you said are in the future. thanks for your dedictation man, its a good way to waste an hour during the summer

it would be cool if you could give flips/spins/loops point values. that way you could have top scores and all that kinda stuff

NEEDS MORE CHUTES

CLIFFS SHOULD HAVE CHUTES GOING THROUGH THEM, JUMPS ON CHUTES, JUMPS INTO CHUTES, MORE STUFF NOT JUST FLAT CLIFFS, MORE CLIFF TO CLIFF STUFF, MAKE IT MORE FUN, BUT SO FAR IT IS THE SHIT

yep,

try to make a challenge just to make it to the bottom of the hill, that wore be more fun, now everybodycan just straightline and pull out dub corks 1260

Now for some reason it scrolls for me now when I flip, it never did that before, I guess I'll have to make due with wasd. Also It would be cool if you could choose where you start off now that the mountain is so big, it's annoying to try and nail a specific line/trick with random restart points.

Gah sorry, I must have missed it. It would be funny! There was a film at the film festival during the World Ski/Snowboard Festival in Whistler where he was killing everyone.

Chutes... ya I can add some rocks for you guys to try going in between. Keep in mind I've got people asking for rails, chutes, multiple cliffs to throw 2160s off, others saying less cliffs and big spins are too easy. Some people are into big mountain, some people are into BC jibbing, others are into park stuff. I've got to figure out a good balance between them all.

I made some progress on grabs today. Mute grabs are almost in. And the Zoom Out works better now. These changes aren't online yet.

I'm thinking I might make people earn certain grabs, maybe even new gear, by stomping certain tricks or making it through tiny chutes. I'll leave an overall point system out for now. Nobody will be happy with how I choose how many points tricks are worth, especially when everyone wants to play the game differently. The great thing about how it is now is that you can ski down however you like.

Scolson, I'm with you on the arrow key thing. Sometimes it happens to me too, sometimes it doesn't. Picking a start point is totally doable and is on my to-do list.

Again, thanks for playing every one! We're up to 20,000 straight airs from 1400 different players. The average play time is 12 minutes, which is incredible. Some people have posted the game on TGR, freeride.se, alltheski.com and some other sites I've never heard of which is pretty rad.

Yo i say you make like 2 different peak and have one be big mountian with jibs n what not and the other be a sick park

I think an addition of a zoom in feature would be good too, seeing as how the skier is kinda small.

And I think a lot of the trees, especially the ones below cliffs just get in the way. I dont think the game would look bad without them.

This game is sick, but if the view could be closer and the course would follow the skier better that would be cool.
