So feel free to voice your opinion and respond to others about this topic. (not that anyone really needs permission to do so).
Basically my opinion about the aquistion deal, with Studio411 a division of Sportnet and NS.
First off i dont think NS isn't "core" anymore or has by anymeans sold out in anyway. To start off with i just dont agree with some aspects of this next level in some ways. I have always loved NS as this underground/core ski scene that most people who i know do not understand it. ie (friends at skool, mainstreem people etc). Now you all know that skiing is absolutely epic and NS is your gateway into this amazing scene of "all tht is cool". And I am sure that all of you love that skiing is NOT in the mainstreem (myself included) like snowboarding or other stuff. Even Eric Iberg said that skiing is cooler that snowboarding because skiing isn't in the mainstreem. I also love the fact that i can rep NS stickers and talk about it to my skiin friends and most people don't know what it is about. And yes Matt Harvey said that everyone loves to hold onto something underground or core to feel cool about themselves. and i am also victum to this aswell, Cause Harvey Knows all.
However people will say how NS was so core when there was like 20 members or 500 members or a 1000 members and it was only good when there was that many members. Although it hasn't changed at all. And Harvey can back this up in an interview with Doug. You can all agree that skiing is amazing and will continue to grow because it is just a matter of time before it gets really reconized. Like this Next Level Buisness.
With that said I know and everyone else know that nothing is forever and everything is alway changing. Therefore skiing will continue to change everyday, but will always be skiing.
But as far as I am concerned all of people at NS work so hard for so very little and deserve to make some money, alot of money for how hard they work, to give the people sweet coverage of events, good equipment and properly paid staff. So to make NS all it can be, it needs outside funding to make stuff like NSTV happen. Even though some people call it selling out. I dont.
In a perfect world winter would be all year, we would all be core/underground, and Doug could pick money from trees in his backyard in order to make NS real dope. But we dont live in a perfect world.
So really even though some things i cant agree with, it is going to change and skiing is still skiing anyway. SO I SAY Congrats NS team to bring NS to the next level whether people agree or disagree.
But Really at the end of the day go out and ski: groomers, park, pipe, pow, urban, or wutever. And whether ons of people love skiing or hate it, the sport will always be you, your skis, and snow. You will always love the sport no matter what anyone thinks.
To end this Rant. Way 2 GO NS team, stolked for NS TV and we are....... will continue to be.... always.... Skiers.
