Wait, why can't you go on an internet forum when you're in your 20's? Have you ever been to TGR? Or any fishing/hunting forum? They're pretty much all older people and it runs fine.... You don't get "too old" for the internet. papasteeze was on here and he was pretty old lol.

I don't think you get it....once you hit your late 20's, you don't hang out on internet forums in your free time, you go on them at work while you sit in front of a computer for 8+ hours a day.

Ok I'm not an old member or anything but here's how I see it.

Sure it's funny sometimes seeing preschooler mum jokes by one or two people because it's comic relief.

But here's the crux: if you guys want to have your awful, cancerous, mum and dildo jokes you're going to see the newer members coming through pulling the same stunt to fit in because, oh look, I'll get upvotes that way! I'll fit in right?

Months later you have double the amount of losers recycling the same shitty jokes and soon enough you're gonna get nuclear fucken fission bad jokes and bad members. Then they flood serious threads too. So the community norm moves towards being (mentally) 14. I'm guessing that's where the 'NS is a bunch of 12vies' came from.

On top of that, there are plenty of permabanned members who need to remain permabanned out of principle. They haven't given us any reason to unban them, and their previous actions on this site tell us that they wouldn't fit in well with what we're trying to do here.

What are page-view/membership numbers like? Are they improving? I know some videos have been doing well.. but over all hows the site doing?

I looked at google trends (not a very accurate measurement) and was surprised to see this

99% of my post history is in NSG (maybe more tbh)

I never posted in SG much because it just wasn't for me. I only get a couple ski days in a year because of my location and I dont have time to follow pro careers/comps. Dont spend enough time in the park to be proficient with trick names and procedure. NSG was always an awesome place for me to shoot the shit with like minded people about anything and everything.

Ive met some really cool people on NS and then in real life, and in real life and then on NS.

NSG has done an incredible amount for me- people have laughed with me, people have laughed at me, people offered solid advice after a breakup, and people have told me to bang my mom.

Somewhere in this thread someone says something to the effect of "keep your shitposting on reddit and 4chan". Well the glory of NSG was shitposting with a medium sized community of people youre familiar with. Thats what drew me in.

One thing that always bothered me early on was the ban on "f****t". If people didnt like the word they would respond negatively whenever it was posted. It was only a word so I didnt care that much (insert tyler the creator "hahah just walk away from the computer").

But once shit got even more PC it really made it hard to have fun on NSG without watching your back every second, even if it was for just posting your opinion.

I understand the containment issue. I really do. We want to compare to reddit/4chan? Well they had containment issues as well. They applied new policies/bans/boards to try and fix the problems and they both completely fucked their sites up.

PCing up a site to bring in fresh meat almost always backfires. Its drives away content creators/powerusers and creates drama.

First they banned for the word F****t, and I did not speak out—

Because I had other words.

Then they came for Chicken, and I did not speak out—

Because I fucking hated Chicken.

Then they created Lady Gabber, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Lady.

Then they came for memes—and there was no one left to speak for NSG.

I agree with all of this. The graph seems a little unfair because that downward spike at the end is kinda caused by November only just having started.

I joined in winter 2013 and I loved this place immediately. I didn't really start posting until the autumn of that year but it was so good then. Good threads happened. Anyone remember the summer photoshop battle thread? That was probably the thread that drew me into this site.

Then we had the olympic build-up, that Roz G greenscreen thread and my favourite of all time: TANNER HALL: CYBER BULLY. Then T-Hall called me dumbcan on facebook and I had a decent username. NSG was so much fun then.

Look through NSG now and find a decent thread. The only threads that go over 5 pages are the NFL/NHL threads and bullshit political shouting matches. I mean I get that Americans are all super excited that the earth only has to orbit the sun one more time until they get a new president, but I'm not American so I really don't give a fuck.
