I saw the movie the other day and found it refreshingly honest. The first time I watched it I was expecting the traditional poor boyz format, so I was ready to see an orgy of sick shots shown so quickly that you can't even process what's going on. Now, I'll be honest, I enjoy that type of film, because it makes you marvel at the gnar that these guys produce. That being said when I watched this for the second time, I was absolutely blown away... Skiers were finally telling it like it is. Not in the normal, "I felt so fortunate to be on this ak trip" way that you see in many films. It's each athlete giving their own perspective, thier own niche in the industry. It's Jon's obsession to make the JOI the greates event ever( amazingly set up shots and perfectly crafted jumps) . Its Pollard and Pep with super solid footage set to refreshing music talking about how they will be dropping all the money they have in to skiing long after their sponsors have ditched them. It's tanner talking about how Pep changed the way things were seen in skiing, and implying that Durtchi is future with the footage to back it up!!! It's the relationship that Jon and Andreas Haveit have and the reason they get such amazing shots. I think that if you go into this with your minds open and ready to hear the rider's perspective (not a contrived one) then you will really enjoy this. I don't think it will make everyone happy, but then again, what ski film ever did. I say congrats to Johnny and PBP for putting it out there and taking some great chances. In my opinion, this is progression in film.
