LOOKS LIKE SKI MAGAZINE!!! oooh. seriously, everything looks static and dead. I'm not surprised that they're the ones sponsoring MSP. The Japan article almost put me to sleep. REally really great shot of flat pow on page 90. havent seen a shot with so little action since last winter's Warren Miller magazine.

powder was really good about 2 years ago when they had CR as guest editor and stuff, but last year they had so many small, boring articles about the himalayas. Honestly, I'm never gonna go to china or india, do I give a crap what is in the 196th article I've read about it. NO ONE CARES if you ski in india. They had about 5 jibbing articles last year. there photo gallery and ski guide was good though.

i cant take him[liam downey] seriously cuz his name reminds me of that downy bear from back when i was a kid -d loc

I don't deny there are bad things in the US right now, hell, 51% of the country to be exact. But god damnit, our country being fat is NOT a problem. I do't give a shit how fat people are. hell, fat kids are harder to kidnap, that means our country is safer.

I'm an avid Powder reader, but in all honesty I was a little bit disappointed. Obviously Powder is trying to keep its soulful nature, and doing a fairly good job of it, but the editors have to realize that newschool skiing has enough soul to turn the entire industry around. Don't ignore us because you're trying to preserve your identity - realize that your identity is changing!

 
i think thrasher is my favorite ski mag in the world. it's so fresh and dope concerts. their new album is going to be OFF THE CHAINS!

I guess we're all missing Freeze since it got fucked by transworld... it really was the best mag, for both big mountain and freestyle ski...

and i do think that freeskier mag's would like to be like freeze, but they just cant reach that level...

I definitely agree with the fact that their identity is changing. all im saying is, everything looks boring. too clean cut. and a lot of the action shots are subpar. I'm gonna kick my own ass for saying this but i thought that Skiing had more compelling feature articles.

Powder is an awesome magazine because of the quality of the layout, photography, and graphic design. It isn't a newschool magazine, so don't complain when it doesn't cover enough park/jibbing

I just got the issue yesterday and I was pretty impressed. Granted it's not a full time jib rag, but that's not what they're going for.

I found the mentions of the newschool scene to be fairly 'true' to the movement and it was refreshing to see them not trying so god damn hard to be something they're not, like other mags out there.

At least they're putting out a mag with some real content and a nice layout and not just tossing out fluff peices with out of focus pictures.

That was my favorite issue. The pink cover and shit. I loved that one so much.

I haven't picked up the new issue, wasn't on stands and I'm not subscribed...yet.

they said the ski closest to their heart was the Bro Models. in the indie ski company column. heard it got some pretty heavy raves last year, saw a guy ridin em in the snowbird comp, goin huge.

 
I liked last year when it had the "prodigy" section for the first 3 or 4 issues. Ya powder seems more for the 30 years olds, and thats cool. Ski time is coming out soon, so just leave "powder" alone, they are really portraying the adventerous side of skiing.

i liked it, but i haven't read some of the articles yet like the japan one. andy mahre has a sessions ad in it though, that's sick. the ostness article was cool. it had a lot of really sick pictures and some blah ones too.

I know people that work at Freeskier and they got rid of this kid because he doesn't really know anything about skiing or more specifically ski publications.

 
Only if you want to read articles about skiing, rather than real estate, crossover sport utility vehicles, and look at photos of people skiing terrain that's more interesting than groomers.
