New Park Skizzzz! (Round 2)

last thread got created before i finished it so heres round 2.

So i gave up on my hopes of getting rid of my bc's in exchange for some hellbents or ep sheerly out of my lack of money. Now ive decided to get a new pair of park skis because cheaper, and i just realized im skiing and progressing park alot more this year.

Height: 5' 11"

Weight: 190 but lets pretend im *175* because i like my skis alot softer and not that long, and i dont want to deal with the bs about "oh a 180 or bigger will be fine for you its what the pros ride, plus your big" blah blah blah. PLUS im in the process of losing weight now that footballs over.

Ability: III

Length: 174 to under 180 i ahve had experience with a 180(currently riding as park ski)

Flex: SOFT yet responsive

Location: Mt. Hood Meadows plus either colorado or utah where i plan to go to school next year

Basically im looking for a SOFT yet responsive ski (Soft but with LOTS of pop) and LIGHT as possible. this may end up being my comp ski, but not for sure. looking for a slopestyle ski that can handle pipe rather than pipe ski that can handle slopestyle

possible skis:

2008 Armada ar6 176 - felt very responsive with hand flexing yet still soft. seem very durable. whats the weight like?

2008 Line Invader 178 - very soft, but seemed a little less responsive. Also a little worried about durability?

2008 Line Anthem 178 - just a wide invader?

2008 Salomon Thruster 181? - Seem almost perfect to what i want but the damn length. thought about it and dont really want the stiffness of the spk either

2008 4frnt STL 177 - havent heard much at all. seem buttery soft, but hows the responsiveness? and durability?

I would really appreciate it if only people who have ridden or have first hand experience with a specific ski post about it.

I know its alot to read but thank you very much for the help.

id go with the anthems, they're cheap flexy and stable at speed.. and they're durable this year on top of that line has a real good warranty anyways.

AR6 in 181 instead, dopest ski I just got. Although I've always ridden long, I'm 5'9 and 150 but the ski is sick

Im sticking to 176 for ar6 if i go with it, fits perfectly its shorter than 180 and longer than 172. the two things ive ridden before.

ive got the 08 anthem and although i havent skied them yet, i think they might be a little burly for pipe. mine feel stiffer than the invaders slightly but are verystable underfoot

get the stl, they get really buttery and they still have tons of pop, and if yuo want a beefier, and cheaper one, get the tnk. way more pop and super flexy.

what the flex like on tnk's compared to stl's? havent been able to actually see them in person but according to my reading material they are a bit stiffer

Bluehouse MRs are good, they are wide, perfect for soft snow that im sure you will get a lot of, and they are snappy, soft and responsive.

I have cosidered the dumonts especially cause of the 176 length, but the all wood core seems like it might be light, and the fact that its just a little more pipe oriented makes it seem a little siffer.

to the kids who recommended the wall, could you gimme some more info about how they were when you rode them? ive looked at siffness ratings, the chart the guy recently posted, and talked to people, and they are stiffer than what i want. if i didnt mind a stiffer park ski i would just get a new pair of scratches on sale from last year, but i really want softer

**correction: it seems that the all wood core of the dumonts might NOT be light, and they might be stiffer than what i want due to slight pipe orientation.

STILL LOOKING FOR A LOT MORE PERSONAL EXPERIENCES FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE RIDDEN ANY OF THESE, NOW INCLUDING DUMONTS 176. and if you tell me about dumonts try and specify which year

moment reno jibbs in a 181? there pretty stiff for me but i weight a lot less than you and there super light and responsive

dude you want anthems. i havent had a chance to ride pipe with them, but i rode them for a day at center mount and was able to shred powder, choppy groomers, do butters so easy, they are just incredible skis. i highly suggest them

Please try and read the thread before you post. i want a park ski possibly my comp ski, not an all mountain ski, so telling me they shred everything great doesnt move me toward buying them, if thats what your trying to do...

Alright im looking for specifics while riding park on these from PEOPLE WHO HAVE RIDDEN THEM!. how are they landing switch, how do they butter, what are they like on switch ups, whats it like gripping rails on them, whats the swing weight like, etc.

Might wanna check out the punx in 182.

super light, super flexy, not that expensive and edges are bombproof.

they are made to be centermounted so they ski a bit shorter then your average 182 cm ski.

and if your still wondering why you should get them: they have a shitload of mini glossy printed skulls on them

are you seriously calling me out for trying to help you? whats wrong with kids these days. If youve researched your shit enough to narrow it down to an option, youd realize they are fucking park skis. i shouldnt have to tell you that. fuck you, get off your ego trip.

relax bro. it came off meaner than i wanted. i was a little irritated cause im just getting answers that were basically: you should buy this ski, or you should buy that ski. there was no WHY i should buy which ever ski. i apologize i was just looking for more specifics about them in the park. sorry for the misunderstanding.

Right im leaning towards ar6, although i like the thruster more, just not the length

think chronics more than invaders/anthems. would make a super sexy slopestyle ski.

dumonts really arent that heavy either, and the durability is ridic with the wood core.

jo's really would be fucking perfect, maybe find a pair used?

Not interested in chronics to stiff for how i like em. only asking for info on skis i listed, plus dumonts. thanks very much for the dumont input though.

I wouldn't get the Invaders. They are cheap, light and tons of pop, but I find they are too soft for bigger landings (I'm 6', 170 lbs) and durability really is an issue, at least for the last 2 years, but they got better from the first ones last year, so this year they probably improved too. I don't think they would be a good comp ski, because of the durability (topsheet chips really easily, not good for comps) also they don't have a sintered base so you have to load the wax to them if you want much speed. The base also gouges easier. Out of the ones you listed, those are the only ones I've skied, but I would recommend the Ar6s, because everyone I know who's owned them was really ahppy with them and tehy seem to be very durable, plus they are in the length you want.

Bump. excellent job by ^^^ exactly the info im looking for on theses skis.

looks like ar6's are top of the list, and dumonts have been added.

in order so far:

ar6

stl

dumont

invader

anthem

ns. your failing me.....

question: is last years dumont really the same as this years thruster? if so, im getting last years dumont

Just buy AR6s. It's had more recommendations in this thread than the others. People aren't replying any more because you've had enough input to make a decision now.

As for Thrusters, they might well be the same as last year's Dumonts but I don't like the look of the edges on them at all. The cap stick out a long way underfoot and the edge doesn't look too supported. Landing slightly on-edge on a rail could damage them quite easily. Anyone ski them and have good/bad edge experiences. I'm talking about 07/08s - previous years aren;t the same.
