New Park Skiier

I would say start small, and by that I mean, don't try for a 540 right off. Nail your 180s, then 360s, and so on. Just practice and have fun.

have fun..nothing else matters...do what is fun, and dont worry about proving anything to anybody

is it good to learn to spin both ways right when you start or get really good at spinning only one direction????

yeah, that will help your style. and when you get good enough you can tweak you style and make your own.

since when do we want our style to be just like snowboarders? Come on, make skiing your own...not make skiing into snowboarding.

I dont snow board. All I have done was down hill but that got REALLY boring. so the end of last years season I started park.

learn to ski first. THen you can do the more advanced stuff but like others said just do what is fun.

all you really need to become a good park skier is balls( or ovaries i guesse for chicks). you cant be scared to hit big stuff and try shit off of it. start off small but i mean the first time you try that 3 or whatever chances are that you are going to fall. you can progress so much faster if you just suck it up and try stuff, the more practice the better.i see so many kids out there that want to get good but they just sit on top of the hill before the jump and sike themselves out. you need to just go for stuff and realize that you are probobly going to fall a few times before you start landing stuff consistanly. leanr how to fall without hurting yourself if that makes sense.

True. The 1st time i tried a rail i was like wtf cause it was really slippy. it was plastic. Should I get good at jumps 1 and 3s grabs then move to rails?

its all up to you. some kids like to jib a lot and others dont. try to get good at both but its total up to you wether you wanna practice rails or air. progress at both equally if you want

Don't listen to d-loc...he's fucking with you...trust me on this one. If you're concentrating on park only, core center isn't a bad thing to do. But they don't have to be in order to ski park.

dont be a pussy. you need to push yourself. That being said before you try to learn 540s or somthing you need to be able to do 360s pretty well. As for rails. It's all most all nuts until you get really good and start with 270s on and stuff

make sure you are a good skier first... then jsut go and have a good time taking small hits and jibs and skiing fakie.

I like the suggestion to learn to spin both ways right away. Its a good idea because learning to spin to the right after getting very comfortable spinning to the left was one of the toughest things for me to do. It's strange I started off trying to spin to the right, but it didn't work out, so then I tried spinning to the left, and often times that didn't work out either. I feel I am somewhat confident on the right, but I wish I learned it earlier.
