New park restrictions at Mt. Hood Meadows.

Well, the resort got a new general manager. He's from Jackson. Meadows is now limited to 45 foot tabletops.
WEAK!
No one here know about it because they didnt make it public. I am here to tell you to write into the blog that meadows has.
www.skihood.com

if you feel like they have been lacking in park features you may want to tell them...

45 feet can be built pretty big if you know how to do it right.

and he never said anything about gaps, as far as his single rule you stated goes it doesn't seem like hood has anything to worry about.

when i was there, i went to each of the parks, or the hmr one and the one to the left of the central lodge area, and i don't think any of them were over the size of 45 feet. there was one, but it was probably only 45 ft

i still have faith meadow's will build the sickest jump lines ever, 45 ft. to the knoll can still be 60 ft. to the sweet spot

I heard about this. THis guy is taking safety way too far. No groomers can go through the base area 2 hours after close without ski patrol escort and fencing at the end of every trail. That fencing has to be taken off every night to groom too. Its just giving a good people a lot of worthless work that sounds good in theory but is incredibly impracticle. Also the new manager wanted to gate off the halfpipe so it would be basically impossible to air out but luckily kinger was able to convince him that the pipe was part of the park trail, not a seperate one.

also due to another BRILLIANT IDEA. Its highly unlikely anyone will spring shoot there. Many people in the industry have already emailed meadows about this.

gahhhh I never thought I'd say this, but I want Dave back!

Putting a limit on tables is stupid, the best part of meadows is the nice park in the spring with big tables. Everyone who skis in the PNW, even if you don't go to meadows, should go post on the blog, he does read all the comments.

Grrrrrrrrrrrr. A big part of the reason I bought a spring pass this year was because of the fabled Cascade Superpark. Definitely writing in the blog.

Right, I'm sure this guy is really fond of loopholes.

park staff: "But you didn't say we couldn't build a 75 foot gap..."

GM: "Hey, you're right, awesome, carry on, this definitely doesn't completely defeat the purpose of my extreme safety measures!"

jea, most of the kids at meadows have known that. Thats probably why cascade superpark only looks like its going to be like 40's at most, this new general manager is a douchbag for sure, nothing this season has been as good as last at all

that is why i am getting my pass to t-line next year.. meadow's park was horrible this year. nay meadows... NAY!

yea it pisses me off that the people with the power to change the sport are changing it for the worse

NO no, I think he is probably right.

just be thankfull they dont take out all your jumps period. 45 feet is better than 0 feet.

odd. kinger thought they were in agreement but i guess when he takes off for a month to do bigger better things Ike can't hold his own.

god quit complaining and go explore the rest of thew mountain and learn how to ski. we have a 10 foot table from knuckle to knuckle and only one, just be greatful for what you have.

If i wanted to hear about skiing the rest of the mountain I wouldn't be on this site...where else am i going to complain about fenced pipes and small tables?

god shut the fuck up im so tired of people bitching about people wanting to ski park.

if you want to ski park ski the park, if you dont want to ski park dont. but dont come on a site that serves a mostly park oriented demographic and bitch about people who want park features.

i mean i ski park, but i also ski everything else, and im sure that when it snows these guys like skiing the rest of the mountain too, get off the park vs pow/all-mountain hate who gives a fuck, its skiing go have fun.

yea all of us who ski meadows have known this for a while, they've done a horrid job with their parks this season and the fact that they're not building a "superpark" this spring is ridiculous. sure 45 footers are nothing to complain about considering the pathetic excuses for parks we've had during this past season, but still tables with a maximum of 45ft sure aren't superpark material.

If this is true think yurself lucky u still have jumps unlike rcr. Been working at nakiska for ages and we had a super sweet park last few seasons. We had 2, a beginner park and a super park. THey were even gunna put a 3rd park in with bigger featres. This was a big thing for a mountain with only 28 runs lol.

However this never came to be since they banned jumps and we were stuck with a dam rail park. But it was okay in a sense because it was built in a way which you could jump straight over all the rails.

yeh so think yurself lucky that yur jumps arnt completly gone

Quit your bitching. Where I ride the jumps are supposedly only allowed to be 15' maximum and no taller than 3' tall.

ya well... if you were paralyzed after eating shit off a jump or falling off a cliff, you would sue the mountain for as much as you could get. You would be forced too, it costs alot of money to be taken care of in that state. Im not saying it is right, but its just how it is.

umm every person on I know on ns can shred 45 footers... and I"m not trying to claim cause I am by far the worst at jumps of all the people I am referring to.

i agree with you on that fact that people should take responsibility for their actions but sometimes its not their choice to sue or not because my friend was paralyzed for a month because he crashed on a jump and his insurance was going to make him sue because of the cost but my friend didn't want to do that because he is friends with the owners of the loge and some how he got lucky and found a loop hole out of it because it was after the session had ended but once again i completely agree with you on the fact that people should take responsibility for their actions

go cut your wrist you emo and go cry about your 10 ft tables, just be grateful there are better parks everywhere else in the world...that you dont get to ski

yes thank you, im sick of all these hardcore bc guys coming on here and shitting a kitten everytime someone talks about skiing park. i have no problem with skiing bc stuff, but i like park better, i dont hate on you hardcore bc guys, so why hate on park skiers? nobody cares how badass you think you are cause you ski bc rather than park so stop hating.

For sure..this site is definitely very much park oriented so it only makes sense that its what we talk about here.. And just because your jumps are ten feet doesn't mean that people dont have a right to complain about what is happening at their resort.

i dont know what its like in USA, but here in NZ in places like snowpark you sign a waiver when you buy a pass so you they can't get sued. They should do that everywhere so they can make jumps as big as they like and it doesnt matter if someone gets hurt. Sueing is the worst thing about the US. Everyone feels the need to do it about nothing. I've never heard of a case like that here. IMO it should be you should have to deal with it if you injure yourself. Not the people who own the place you did it.

jea seriously. suing here in the US is for dumbasses who want to blame someone else for their own stupidity. like a person spilling coffee and suing because it was hot, or a gaper suing because they got landed on while standing in the landing of a kicker.

I'm totally against suing, but it's interesting that a case like the hot coffee spill was won becuase McDonalds was intentionally over heating their coffee to discourage patrons from taking advantage of their free refill policy... it's just an example of how messed up our country can be when it comes to our laws.
