NEW Park Edit from Mammoth!

Hey NS, I just finished a new park video but this time its from Mammoth Mountain! I went up with my school, Chapman University, and our Ski and Snowboard Team. I decided to bring my camera along and do some filming. Enjoy!

Colour and filming was dope. Editing was over-worked. Simplistic edit would have been sick.

Never been there but makes me want to go

Thanks man! My setup was a Canon 60D stabilized with a Glidecam HD2000. For lenses I primarily used a Canon 70-200mm 2.8 and a Canon 16-35mm 2.8. A GoPro HD Hero 2 was also used for some shots.

I'm just going to put this out there: that edit was filled with cliches

its hard to get away from cliches at first, but once you do you will be a much better filmmaker.

you seem to have all the fundamentals down, generally good shots, and you know how to edit. the only thing that went wrong here was you pulled every trick in the book. someone will argue this so ill just point a few out from the start:

2.35:1 ratio (not terrible, but could be considered one)

twixtor

shots of people just smiling and shit on the chairlift

extreme grading

glitchy & light electronic music

sequence shot of the boarder (thats where i stopped watching)

look foreword to your future work.

future.spinner - haha Thanks man for the extensive feedback. If you didn't like my editing and thought I "pulled every trick in the book" its all good. I did what I thought looked best and you can't please everyone! Thanks for watching, but watch the whole video next time. lol. I think you would like it! Once again, thanks for the feedback and I look forward to seeing some of your future work too!

the good:

-very smooth shots

the bad:

-cheesyass effects. If you can't make the effects near perfect (the boarder sequence was pretty bad to be honest) don't even bother, that really brought down the edit

-the editing had 1000 more cuts then it should have, and slowing down a skier well after a landing only works if its a banger...

-stop using twixtor

so basically if you stop trying to be AbeK this would have turned out a lot better, the shots themselves are really nice

a little over done with the editing. the shots were really good and could have been together to make a really sick feel good edit, rather than an attempted abek edit.

just focus on making a feel to your edit through the confluence of shots, not through how much twixtor you can use

otherwise it was good
