New Park at sundayriver

Newry, ME - In the action sports world, a popular saying is "go big or

go home." Freeskiing legend Simon Dumont is now going big and going

home with a new partnership with Maine's Sunday River ski resort.

Born

into a family of skiers in the nearby small town of Bethel, Dumont has

been skiing Sunday River since his childhood. It was where Dumont honed

his talents, and the first resort to witness the then three-year old

ski prodigy outshine everyone on the slopes.

Last April, Dumont

made history at Sunday River when he set the world record for height on

a quarterpipe, soaring 35.5 feet in the air.

As part of this new

relationship, Dumont has plans to co-design a signature terrain park

with Sunday River’s park crews and launch an international ski

competition that will bring some of the ski industry's best to Sunday

River.

“I am thrilled to be joining forces with Sunday River,"

Dumont said. "I’ve skied all over the globe, but there is nothing like

skiing there. It truly is home to me. I am looking forward to

introducing it to the rest of the world.”

where i found it they didn't post a link and i couldn't find it online.

honestly.. fuck simon dumont.

enough of this claiming of how "sunday river is home" bullshit.. he got paid by mount abram to put them as his home mountain for the X games.

my guess is that the park will have some redic big and sketchy features.. with absolutely zero flow and EMPIRE pasted all over everything.

not trying to hate on this but given sunday river's parks recent history of the past few years I would not be surprised at all if it turned out like that ^^..

nonetheless, I'll still definitely have to check it out when it's up.. and if it turns out to be dope then I'll gladly admit I was wrong and also be real stoked.. but still, fuck simon dumont.

seriously, why is there so much hate on dumont right now?

id be willing to bet that dumont can really help out the jumps and hopefully the pipe that is always pure ice here. i would love some real landings and a nice kicky kicker and im sure that he could get the park crew to realize they need to make these.

so you think that it's cool that he gets paid off by mount abrams to claim them as his "true home mountain".. and then does this shit with sunday river because he feels for his "true home mountain".. fuck naw..

I can almost guarantee that neither of you have ever met simon.. and i'm sure if you have then you wouldn't be sticking up for him.

Word dude I agree. You can't play both sides and let it fly. Kid's in it for the money, and there's nothing wrong with that as long as your willing to sacrifice dignity/respect. He slays at skiing, and that's for sure, but what he's doing with this is kinda beat.

the reason simon said abrams was his home mountain was because at the time he had bad relations with sunday river because of somthing to do with the team they had back in the day. SR was always his home mountain though.

and if sr is serious about making there park better they need to get it off of rocking chair and put it on dream maker. it has really fast lap time, more sun then almost anywhere else perfect length and steepness and its not in the center of the resort.

word

exactly what i said in the other thread.. dream maker would be almost too perfect for a park.. (psyche)

couldn't agree with you more. rocking chair is horrible and dream maker would be such a better spot. also maybe bring back american express park.

also sean, i agree with you too.

I've been around simon a few times at sunday river, and i've only ever heard negative things about our parks from him. Not such a great influence for a 14-15 year old kid to see this pro roll up to the jib park he's been trying a rail in forever and say "this park sucks ass," roll through and not even hit anything.

I feel if he makes this "superpark," it will just be to benfiit empire and probably will suck just as much as his company does.

But like sean, if it actually ends up good, i will be stoked and admit i'm wrong.

We'll have to see...

my friend works on the parks crew and he said they arent naming the park after simon there just having a event called like the simon dumont blah blah blah

Sunday rivers park was a dissapointment when i was there last year. honestly, horrible jumps and a wallride that we had to push snow up under it so we wouldnt dig our tips into the bottom? Ill give it to them though that the park where the No bib jib was amazingly fun so the mountain has potential. just kinda dissapointing driving 6 hours from NY and having a better park right at home
