New outerwear

A couple of friends and I have started a new outerwear company in the Northwest. we have only got a couple of sweatshirts, stickers, and hats made up so far. We want to be different from the traditional brands such as saga, north face, Virtika ect. ect. More of a designer/exclusive look. we are open for ideas and would like the input of the community.

1. Name?

2. Price ranges?

3. How are you different from traditional brands?

4. How are you going to make your brand stick, as opposed to the other hundreds of outerwear companies that NSers have tried to start?

5. How do I get sponsored?

Name-Lost Soul Outerwear

Cost- At first we plan to have a very reasonable price, cheaper than any outerwear out there. we have a great wholesale hookup so we can pretty much just give it away. but eventually we would like to make it an exclusive limited product for a price that is still reasonable, but more more expensive than the startup price.

Difference- we plan to make it a designer look. collaborations between high fashion looks and the traditional park rat look.

Make it stick- Our group of friends has has a wide range of skills that are required to make a company thrive. I personally majored in marketing and minored in graphic design. my other two associates have degrees in video production and clothing design. together we have a few good ideas to get our name out there and make it stick. as of right now i don't feel comfortable revealing our business strategies, as can be expected from a good business man and entrepreneur.

Sponsorship-We defiantly want to sponsor quite a few people at first to get our name out there. once we get a few more products completed and our website up we will most likely be holding a video submission contest for sponsorships. All types of skiers will be accepted from big mountain to urban.

Well it sure sounds like you've got this a lot more well thought-out than snooty co.

Right now you're a streetwear brand. Make outerwear and you're an outerwear brand. :)

Seems well thought out, but aren't most designer items expensive? Also you've got my attention, seems like if this turns out, you may need to ship me something to NY.

This. It seems like every other day there is a new post about someone's 'outerwear' company that only sells tee's, hoodies and 5 panel hats.

Good luck to OP though. Offer stuff in solid colours (not just crazy prints) and you may have my interest.

We are planning on on doing more than just hoodies and tees. It was our brain child about a month ago so we made up a couple of logos and names. there is no website or social media page yet, we will have one up in 1-2 weeks. we are waiting to get more product made up so we have more to offer than your average startup outerwear company. and yes designer is usually more expensive, but we aren't a designer brand, we just want a designer look to be different. We are working on a couple of coaches right now and that is the heaviest jacket we have but we are looking for a good wholesaler who has a heavier jacket or material for things of that type. we are also working on ski pants and facemasks right now. like i said we will have a website and instagram in about a week or two, and then you will be able to see everything.

Market it for what it is. If you tell people outerwear but don't have outerwear, you're deceiving customers. You can call yourselves a "clothing brand" easy, and tell people of your vision for outerwear. Customers will react negatively if you say outerwear brand and then only have street wear.

Once you guys are ready hit me up as we always offer wicked awesome introductory rates on advertising to new brands. We do everything we can to support the dreams, because without that there would be no Saga, Virtika, Strafe, etc. We're here to help!

Well i guess the smart thing to do would be to get some more stuff made up and get our website up so that you guys can take a look and tell us what you think. ill create a new thread when everything is up so you can check it out and give us some feedback.

I would never buy anything from a company named "lost soul". no real reason, i just think that name sucks. \

/$00.02

Yeah, call it "Félagio"

It sounds fancy, and is Icelandic for "company".

Since no one lives in Iceland and/or cares about it, nobody will know.
