Not really sure where to post this, but I'm just posting to introduce myself.

I'm a 22 year old business student from Kamloops BC Canada. Sun Peaks is my local mountain, the park sucks so I am strictly a powder hound. Looking for skis currently, either Prophet 90/100, Volkl Bridge, or K2 Seth. Planing on trips to Red/Whitewater/Fernie/Kicking Horse this year. See you in the slopes.

whats up dude, welcome to newschoolers.

wish i could make it up to BC more, but funds are lacking, and honestly i'm happy with my utah pow :D

if it were me, i'd get prophet 100's, 90's are too thin for what they are built for, and i hear the 100's are a way sick ski... and i've always been a line fan.

id definetely go with the prophet 100. 90 could be used too much as a park/all mountain ski

ski gabber--talk about skiing

non-ski gabber--talk about not skiing

ski equipment--where u would post stuff like this

media and arts--talk about cameras and music and stuff

site discussion--talk about site improvements, annoying or good things on the site, etc

welcome. glad to have you instead of some 13yr old shit talking park rat.

and i wish i lived where you lived

lol most times when someone makes a thread like this

everyone will make fun of them

but since you mentioned your age they know your not some 12 year old haha

and HEY!

Word, nice to have a chill guy who isn't a 13 year old retard. I'll probably be going to business school in a year or 2 as well.

Anyway I'd check out the Line Sir Francis Bacons, if you are looking

for a powder jib ski, or even the Rossignol Scrach Steeze, or the

Rossignol Raven (same as steeze but better graphics, it is labeled as a

telemark ski however it is 100% identical to the steeze). If you are

looking for more of a hard charging ski take a look at the Gotamas,

Volkl is a great company and they know their skis very well. The

Gotama will be a pretty stiff ski and will be able to charge very hard.

Pesonally I'm going with Bacons, and with the sidecut of the Bacons

they will be decent on groomers as well, and very versatile.

Welcome to the site. Glad to see some older people joining up. Makes me feel less ancient. And if you are a powderhound, I wouldn't be looking at anything thinner than a 98mm waist (Seth & Bridage) but I would definitely also look at Prophet 100s, Scott P4s, Gotamas, ANTs, older Maden's/AK Enemys, Scratch Steeze, JP vs Juliens, Atomic Pimps, & 4frnt VCTs. There are lots of great skis out there, and Kamloops is definitely a wicked place to be.

Also, you HAVE to hit up Revelstoke this year.

ay mate!

welcome to NS, its highly addictive, and will lower your homework efficiency...

but i like it anyway

Get the Volkl Bridge. They look sick.

Or you could take a step up and get the Mantra, they are a bit wider, and would kill it in the powder.

Welcome to NS.

Welcome! huh i recognize your name Z06..do you have a corvette by any chance?

Anywhom welcome to N/S..you'll learn we like to debate politics alot! but since your out of college i think most of us are screwd

Thanks for the warm welcome and all the suggestions regarding my skis for this year. I'm going to check out some Prophet 100s today as well as Bridges(yes I agree the graphics are sick). To reply to a few comments that were made:

I am going to Revy for sure this year, possibly once in December for some Heli action, and then again in January on the lifts. A friend of a friend is renting a bus and 50 or so of us are going for 3 or 4 days.

I don't have a Vette right now, but I have been working my ass off during school to save for one and I should be getting one in the next few months...either that or a G35 coupe. Planning to buy in the winter to save some $$$.

yeah the g ride is awesome but the vette is and has been for a while the fastest natural motor around for an american car, ballin in black too i might aadd. welcome to the show and additionally i too am thankful for a non 13 yr old asshole. cheeers and i hope you find what you're searching for as far as a ski. madens are bomb, k2 is good for the pow never been steered in the wrong direction with them.

Hey man welcome. Last time I was at the peaks park it wasn't that bad. Better than a lot of the shore locals. Anyways, welcome have fun. You will soon be addicted.

I got refered to a shop by a friend of mine, they had Volkls in stock. I am starting to lean towards the Bridge since the owners are good guys and I can probably get a discount. Also the graphics are sooo sick, I would almost buy them just for that. The Mantras are nice, but are not true twin tips and the Gotama's are too wide and have too little sidecut for a one quiver ski imo. Both the above are also quite a bit more expensive.

I do go to TRU, can't remember off hand, but someone asked. I'm graduating at the end of this semester so you better holla at me soon so that we can go for a beer at Heroes.

dude, a corvette would be sick. but i have to say, sports cars are very expensive, both in initial cost and maintenance. AND i wouldn't recommend getting a RWD sports car unless you have a reliable 4wd/Awd daily driver. It would probably be hard to get up a mountain on a pow day in a corvette.

if it were me, i'd go for the G35. the sedans come in Awd! always a positive in my opinion.

BUT if you didn't care about Awd, i'd go for the G37! 300 hp in an infinity FTW!

If only there was a way to get skylines over here cheaper. I hear they're coming out with a US model....

but i want an R34 >:)

Since your going to TRU check out the Run to the Hills ski/snowboard club. We are throwin a rail jam in Jan, as well as organzing rides to sunpeaks, Backcountry tours, roadtrips etc.

and go with the volkls.. but if your into powder step it up to mantras, gotama's or katana's.

nice to see you with us. most def rock the new seths i demoed a pair and they are SOOOOO nasty in the powder and in the park, as well as public enemys which i also own and LOVE

Thanks for the additional replies.

Small update:

Just got home from a lovely 14 hour shift :P There was a message on my phone saying that they are completely sold out of Bridges and it didn't sound like they were going to be getting more...I'll have to phone on Monday to get the full details. I would consider Mantras except that they are not full twin tip. Gotamas/Katana's seem pretty damn wide for a one ski quiver at a hill like Sun Peaks, and all three are also significantly more expensive. On Friday, I partied with a guy from a shop that sells Line in town and also go to school with his gf so I might see if I can get a hookup on some Prophet 100s. Thanks for mentioning the ski club I have not heard of it before. Are there posters at school advertising it?

Back to cars, I have an everyday car already, an 05 Mazda3. Not awd, but with winter tires (Michelin X-Ice are great btw) on, it has yet to let me down. The only time it gets iffy is when the snow is deep enough to start lifting the car. As much as I like the 330hp from the G37, there's no way I can afford it. I would be getting an 04 or so G35 coupe or a 00 or so Vette.
