Amputechture will be released on vinyl in September of 2006. The album features almost a dozen players, including Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante who is featured as guest guitarist on every track of Amputechture.

* 1. Vicarious Atonement is the theory that the atonement of Jesus Christ was legal in God's eyes. Jesus died in the place of the humans that sinned.

* 2. Tetragrammaton is a reference to the Hebrew name for God.

* 3. Vermicide is any substance used to kill worms, espically those in the intestines, or the act of killing worms.

* 4. Meccamputechture - Mecca is the holiest city in the Islamic faith. (Ampu) from the word amputate (techture) from architecture. The dismantling of Mecca, related to terrorism attempted destruction of Islam.

* 5. Asilos Magdalena - 'Mary's Asylum' in Spanish, most likely a reference to Magdalen Asylums.

* 6. Viscera Eyes - Viscera means internal organs, namely intestines.

* 7. Day Of The Baphomets - A Baphomet is an object used for idolising, also confused with popular representations of Satan.

* 8. El Ciervo Vulnerado - 'The Wounded Deer' in Spanish.

 
Aaah I love The Mars Volta! I could never pirate their music though. I they deserve money for the marvel they produce.
 
Yeah it's legit. It's a .zip file. SO you just download it, and unzip the music files from it. I did, it's pretty sick
 
i've never actually heard them, but they're playing at the chili peppers concert i'm going to, so i hope they're good.
 
how do you have it if it's supposed to come out sept 06? I can't pirate their music. they are too good, they deserve the money, even though they don't care about it.
 
i got it from that link up there, and i was disapointed. i like them as more At the Drive-In style and not so much alien noises... this album is very much wierd noises and long ass songs, there is no song that can touch Roulette Dares or Inertiatic Esp. but that is just my lame-ass opinion.
 
It's an excellent album, but Deloused and Frances were better in my opinion. Deloused will never be matched, ever haha. The addition of Flea and Fruiscante though is refreshing, and there's a fair bit more spanish influence on this album too.
