New macbooks

i am so stoked that my dad thinks a macbook pro is necessary for my college studies next year... sooo stoked

(and yes he knows his shit about computers and is actually a pc person)
 
Kind of what I was wondering as well... I always thought transferring DV with USB came with loss of quality?
 
If i were you, I would consider the Macbook Pro over the Macbook for video editing. The 9600M GT would give you a lot more power than the 9400M. Also, take a look at the student discounts, they'll save you both money on the base unit and any upgrades. I think when you order online, you can just put in a zipcode of a school and don't really have to prove you go there. Not sure, but i'm going to me ordering a MBP soon!
 
I just got a brand new base level macbook yesterday.I absolutely love it, it's just a nice change from a pc.PM me if you have any questions other than like tech specs cause you can find those on the interwebz.
 
i looked online and i have a black macbook the newest of last version and on the apple website it says it has a glossy screen. but tis not too glossy to me, do you or anybody know which it is ?
 
I think you should have been given the option to have a glossy or matte.. I know with MBP I got that option but Im not sure about the MBs though.. Im sure you can tell just by looking at the screen, if its reflecting anything its probably glossy..
 
The new macbooks are so sick. I like the no button thing. The trackpad is pure awesomness. Super small and light and has so many fun/cool programs. The glossy screen is sick too.As far as firewire, it doesn't matter to me. I'm having a blast playing with it haha.
 
regardless i am getting the new macbook. the 2.0ghz is faster than the old mac at 2.1ghz because it has a faster graphics card. and macs are very graphics intensive. If anything it is faster
 
my macoobk which i only bought 2 months ago but i guess would be considered an older genertaion now has the f button itunes feature alos, awesome feature but honestly other then the internal updates the new macbooks don't do much fo me, and i love my white one its so clean and cutegahh macbooks are awesome though, juts the speed of them, and their lack of viruses is a miracle, and as soon as i got office for mac it had everything for schoool. i always reccomend macbooks
 
played around with one in the store, i hate the new trackpad. lack of a mouse is so prohibitive to productivity, but I guess since 90% of people who buy a macbook are hipsters who don't care about functionality, its ok for them. The screen seems glossier than before. and now the pro has the same keyboard as the macbook which I'm not a fan of.
 
I got my 2.4 Macbook today - I finally made it to the Apple store before they sold out (which has happened every day all week). Overall it's really nice. The trackpad is weird but if you click with a finger/thumb other than the one you're moving the pointer with it really doesn't feel much different. I use a mouse 90% of the time anyway. They didn't have any RAM in the store so I'm going to use it with 2Gb until 3rd party prices drop a little then get 4Gb in there. Smoking.

No Firewire isn't a big deal unless you edit video, in which case you should be on a Pro anyway.
