New macbooks

i didnt look too into the interenals, but im pretty sure they are the same, just new covers. but do tehy have snow leapord? or is that not out yet?

those look awesome. i told my housemate to hold off until these were released. hes going to be glad he did.

at first i was really skeptical about using the glossy screens due to glare, but after using glossy screens for the past month and a bit, i have found that they are fine, you just have to be alittle more conscious about which way you orient yourself when you are working

Glossy screens have shown to be straining, and bad on the eyes. (I own a 2.4ghz macbook)

and they are also IMO for djs like me in a dark environment at times with random lights shooting at it

ah, i did not know that. i guess it really depends on what you are doing with it, and what the environment is, personally i have found myself straining just as much, if not less than with a non gloss screen, but that is just me, and what i experience wont change the experiences of others.

Yeah, glossy is fine for regular people, but usually if your pro in anything, matte is the way to go. Especially in graphics, way more realistic colors

i was thinking about that as well, like the secondary one is dedicated purely to graphics processing, so it should allow it to run faster and more efficiently, since whenever there are graphics/video to be processed, they can be independently. not to mention it has an nvidia chipset rather than an intel one. i think it will run better, but my knowledge about this sort of thing is pretty limited so i dont know

THEY ARE SO BEAUTIFUL. I have the old macbook. and just ordered the new MACBOOK PRO, switch to mac they are such great computers for pictures and editing movies for skiing

Guys i have a question

So im deciding between the lower end model or higher end model (1399 vs 1749 CAD).

Would the changes in the 1749 dollar one be worth the extra 350? Thanks

isnt it sort of the same concept as a dual processors increasing multi-tasking? or having dual video cards? i think one is an integrated processor and another is more like an actual video card, allowing for processing to take place in both, but then again i really dont know all that much about what iam talking about and sort of taking stabs in the dark almost

i have been a pc user and lover for most of my life, but now i am in digital media courses in university where all we use is macs, so a mac was sort of an obvious choice for me, oh and since they arent made to game i am able to almost completely avoid distractions other than ns, youtube, and facebook

thats what I thought until I realized that any time you have pictures up or are watching a movie or anything of that sort you would have to clean the screen....

Being that you're pretty smart with these sort of things, what would you recommend to me? I edit photos a good amount, and likely won't stop in the future. Video, not so much, unless I end up buying one of the DSLRs with video which is definitely years away for me at this point. (But I've had this desktop for 7yrs, so you never know how long I'll hang onto this computer)

In short, The best specs on the Macbook or a Macbook Pro?

I forgot to mention I'm gonna be a trend whore on this one and go with a mac for no apparent reason, other than why not? And this is coming from someone who has used windows all his life, and even bought a Zune to stay out of the Apple circus. I'm being a bitch, I know, but hey I want to try out something different, and I'm not one to be faithful to an operating system that is a tool to do what I want. The vaio does look sexy, I'm not gonna lie. especially at 1k less than what I'm currently looking at. my decisions not 100% yet, of course, and I'm still really busy with school work this week, so we'll see where I stand come the weekend.

Not having firewire connections is fucking retarted especially since they are being marketed to people involved in digital media. That is pushing me one step closer to converting back to PC because an MBP is way out of my price range.

I dont think I like these very much, for one, I hate glossy. I laugh at all the kids in class with the glossy screens, then they see me.. because its glossy. Ya the faster ram and better video cards are cool but glossy is a huge negative for me. Also did I miss it? Is there no firewire at all on the macbook, and only a firewire 800 for the pro? I hope Im missing something because Im not sure I like these new laptops..

fuck that i think this is the new dopest computer out right now

so hot right now

they look nice, but id never spend that much money on a computer.

hp touch screen is really gimmicky, i dont see how windows becomes more efficient because of a touch screen, I'd rather scroll down by retracting my middle finger on a mouse rather than smudging up my screen with greasy fingers.

the super multi touch is what i was stoked on. im kinda bummed i just got my macbook back in april now. :(. and as for no firewire.... meh. ive never used mine anyway

Getting rid of the firewire port was a bad idea. I know USB is just as fast now, but still. I rely on firewire cords for my video transfer, and they aren't cheap. When i upgrade (which wont be for a while) from my current mbp to this thing, i'll have to spend extra on new cords. Lame.

i have one of these. they added itunes controls on the F buttons which is amazing

also, they connect to NS in a flash, and are not virused and fucked up by Limewire

the more I look at them, the more I really like them.. But my white macbook has tons of character, and the all white makes for great sticker plastering and customization (which i havent dont much of)

i just got one a few weeks ago... sooooooooooo sick everything is way better plus wireless is sooo simply and its like made for movie editing

He works for a company that makes a system that can control just about everything in your house from TV to AC to windows and lights and they use apple stuff as theyre hardware so he gets to screw around with macs and stuff at work. they put a huge touchscreen into a coffee table for a controller and they also transformed the ipod touch into a controller for the system. Its so sick. check it out
