Actually, a ton of people need extremly high end systems, AND 64-bit is the future.
 
I know, when I saw that I was like holy shit, time to sell a few things. I cant wait for lepeord too, the samples look sweet. You can even creat your own widgets of web site. Now I dont even half to type in newschoolers.com. It will just always be there

no kidding, and the new time machien feature is wicked, you can go back and retrieve almost any deleted file. As soo as they put it on the macbook pro im buying one
 
this is getting kinda rediculous. two dual cores? four 500GB hard drives? 16GB of RAM? two 30 inch displays? you could do lots of shit with that computer, but i'm not sure why you'd need it yet lol.
 
didnt the last crazy overpowered Mac get removed from sale because they were worried terrorists would put it to use to coordinate hundreds of attacks at once or something?
 
what?!?!... Never heard that before. The G5 (previous most powerful comupter) was never removed from sale.
 
my neighbor ordered one yesterday. i'm almost debating getting one of the less expensive ones. it would solve all my video editing needs forever.
 
people in the graffic design buisness. I have family friends that own signing companys and do work the the city and provience. They have 5 mac G5's all with the most you can cram into them and they are all used nearly to their potential. They have one computer controling 4 or 5 machiens at once. Its crazy but nessary

have 4 gigs of ram, and render a video in two hours, or have 16 gigs, and render in 30 minutes

500gb Harddrive will fill up FAST when your raw video is 1080i

I want one but all the macs are so goddamn expensive. I only have 512mb of ram and that thing can have up to 16gigs. THAT IS REDIC.

Macs are amazing to say it simply...The fact that you could build a supercomputer out of a bunch of G5's was amazing...with the new mac it's going to make supercomputers more common place. I know this is not interesting to most people but supercomputers will eventually control the world a'la the Matrix...and we have Apple to thank for starting the revolution...I'm so excited...
 
You could have 1 computer for your entire family, and have everyone use it at the same time, right?
 
one hard drive for most computer stuff (all programs and software) one harddrive for back ups (using time machine) one hard drive for media (video, photo and music) but this could easily expand to another harddrive. and the last hardrive for any thing else.

All profesionals that use a computer for editing and design (graphical or engeniring) have atleast two displays. and when you start useing CADs or doing video or photo editing or creating just about anything you are often useing more then one program. and you always need itunes and a safari window for newschoolers. yes you could be using that 16 gigs of memory+ 2 gigs of video memory.
 
You could've had 16 gigs of RAM on the G5. It's all optional, and waaay expensive.

basically the only difference is the processing speed. I love my G5. This Mac Pro is sick, but doesn't really make the previous model obsolete either.

Obviously it dosen't. Your G5 is still most likely screaming if you're running a fair amount of RAM.

But...

with stuff like this, it just jumps up the game, and blows away all competition...and re-sets the bar...SUPER high. leads to more and more advancements...which we can all enjoy.
 
yeha those wrere the first g4 towers i think.....cuz they wrere regarded as mild super computers for thier time. its awesssome!
 
Amazing yes. im glad apple has finally starting to get the money to bring the power of PC's to Macs. Once the price gap is narrowed microsoft will have a run for its money.

Overpriced? yes but you gotta realize HD and graphic designs need this. most use two computers anways
 
the price gap HAS been closed with this release. nearly neck to neck if not slightly cheaper than a comparable dell...but you can run OSX and XP.

power of pc's to macs? with every new chip release (pre-intel switch) they clobbered PC's. Yeah were pricy, but its kinda like buying a corvette vs. a porsche.
 
64 Bit won't really even matter until the OS and all software running under it is native 64bit.

Also, you can't forget that not all of the software has been ported over to x86 architecture, so all of the performance gain over the G5 may be lost to rosetta for the time being.

 
If I was rich, I would buy 10 of those and give them out to 1 person through some sort of contest, and when he's about to claim his prize I'll have a wrecking ball fall down on top of them crushing them and his dreams in one giant crushing slam of freaking awsomeness.
