New love of my life

my new whip...i think i love it more than you should have feelings for a car.

awd, 250 horses, and there's only 5000 of them.

I put a yak rack on it and it went to tahoe this last weekend. It was so sweet getting pulled over for chain control (well, as sweet as getting pulled over could be). I told the alpine sheriff it had awd and snow tires. He made me bust out the manual to prove it, then I got a, "sorry, have a good day". I guess looks are deceiving, not your ordinary golf.

There's a vw cult btw, right?

i feel bad for you... A is a VW B the new hatchback vw's are the ugliest thing they have ever made. none the less it is awd and does have 250hp which is a good start.

too bad its nose heavy as fuck, you every see people tracking those? no, because they understeer the whole way through the turn. but as a street car or for mindless drag racing they work just fine.

Rawr. Buy a WRX. Same amount of space but faster and better looking. Probably about as expensive too.

Are you sure? I really don't know, I just know that my WRX is probably a lot lighter than that and only has 23 less HP. Weight matters a whole lot too. A WRX can 0-60 faster than the highest end BMW 7 series just because it's so damn light.

yup i raced one in mine when it was stock, r32's are wayy torquier, and realy arent that heavy. plus id take the r32 interior over wrx interior anyday, they ride nicer too, but wrx have better handling abilities than the r32 (if you turn the traction controll off) because of what was said above, its nose heavy and under steers like mad

Holy shit! Hahahah, they're a video floating around of a modded R32 doing 0-60 in 3.2.

I think the difference is that a WRX gets it's power from a turbo. You have to really know how to work that to get a top 0-60 time out of it. I sure as hell couldn't

Like I said though, do you know how to work your turbo to always stay in the power band? I honestly haven't gotten it down in mine yet.

The whole WRX vs. EVO vs. R32 vs. etc type arguments are kind of moot if you ask me.

It's all about what car you like the best, not blindly which one has the fastest 0-60, or top speed. Most people like driving torque, and the R32 has a very fat torque band. It's also limited production. I live in the bay area in Cali - there are zillions of BMWs, G35s/37s, mercedes, pretty much any expensive car. There are only 5000 Rs in the country though. So, next to buying a lambo or something, it's one of the few ways I personally could have a unique car.

As far as looks? Very subjective, I happen to love the look of mine.

I will say that I think the R32 is a lot more refined...it's basically like buying a fully loaded Audi, only it's a VW, so it's cheaper. The seats are extremely comfortable, front and back, and there's a ton of little things the car has that are cool. In the end, I know I made the right call for me.

If you ask me, the best track car available for a reasonable amount of money is DEFINITELY the new EVO. That thing is sick.

Someone mentioned understeer btw, and I think they're exagerrating a bit. If you look on the net, most things I've read say the car performs very well at the track (I plan on finding out for myself after ski season). It's true that the car tends to understeer rather than oversteer, but that's not to say the handling isn't pretty damn good. You can upgrade the Haldex awd unit pretty easily and give the car a more even bias, and this helps a lot. Add a few suspension upgrades, and you can probably eliminate body roll. However, for the driving I'll be doing, it won't affect me much.

Well put. To tell you the truth, the turbo pisses me off to no end in the snow. I've burned the living shit out of my clutch a couple times because I engaged it by accident while trying to get out of a snow bank. And of course it would be wonderful to not have that lag.

Congratulations man, that's definitely a sick car.

very nice. I'm personally not a big VW fan, but that is a pretty sick car, I'd drive it. congrats, have fun, be safe

like launch while keeping boost? yeah, i have a consistent 1.7-1.8 60fts at the track, i think thats pretty good.

err dont talk to me, your the fuckin retard whos talking shit about my car. thats probably worth more than your house

I can only park my mom's truck, my dad's Suburban, and my truck in my living room with room for three couches comfortably. Oh and I live on 20 acres with 6 horses, 1 longhorn steer, and 7 dogs. So...ok. You win.

Sure you can afford the Lambo, but that's it.

realy? you think so? if all i could afford was a lambo then why would i waste all my money on that. obviously i had some to blow.

ps. a white phantom is on its way, wanna help me pick out its 24's?

Spoken like a true Lambo owner who compensates things with money and expensive toys.

Do you remember what you said though?

"err dont talk to me, your the fuckin retard whos talking shit about my car. thats probably worth more than your house"

So your precious little car isn't worth more than my house. I was just saying that all of my investments and hobbies are worth way more than your car, but that all doesn't matter.

You don't know anything about me, but what I know about you is that you are just another prick - nothing more, nothing less. Go use your money to buy you a clue. Only if you can afford it though.

Can we get back to talking about cars now?

im realy not. i just dont like you. i dont think ive been a prick to anybody but you. we could easily end this whole thing if you just stop criticizing my comments. thanks

turbos run off the exaust manifold at the end of your engine block

the more your car is emmitting the harder your turbo will work

essentially to keep your turbo in the power band you have the have your tachometer runnin 3 or 4 thousand rpms the whole time

so its really not that hard in a manual you just dont shift up and stay at a constant speed
