My friend downloaded it a couple days ago and I heard it sucks. Which is pretty hard to belive from Talib.

I've had it downloaded for months and man, I love it. the version I have is a bad quality stolen copy pre-matsering, etc. (all the version released up till now have been this) and despite the shitty sound quality, it's a sick album. definitly buying it.

Only thing is that the Lonley People beat was not authorized by Jaco and the Beatles and it isn't supposed to be on Beautiful Struggle. It was on the Mixed tape he releaed this summer but I read it won't be on the new album.

the mixtape was pretty good, that lonely people song was amazing, but as somebody pointed out its not on the album. i got an advanced copy of the cd a couple weeks ago, not that shitty pre-production one that was all over the internet. some really hot tracks are we got the beat and i try (ft. M.J.Blige). its deffenitly worth buying, and dont just download it...that's gay.

comes out today, correct?, my brother ordered it on ughh yesterday, hopefully it'll be here soon

i liked quality, it's some chill stuff, i'm pretty amped to hear the new one

I just picked it up but i havent really heard it all not too bad so far!!

Pete is currently sulking around Mt. Hood, shooting with Poor Boyz Productions and hitting on Kristi Leskinen. She hates guys, Pete lamented, so it’s not going good. Apparently Canada isn’t the only thing that’s tough for Pete to get into.

This is a good album...I bought it last night and I like it. It's got 11 of 13 hot tracks..two bad songs...

I give it 4 of 5 mic's

i didnt like quality all that much when i bought it but its grown on me, and this one sounds at least as good.

I dont like it. Talib is what got me into the underground scene, when I heard reflection eternal, I felt his message, I could feel his energy, it was so raw. From that point on all I wanted to do was find more like that, and then learn more/listen to more of the originators of hip hop. Then quality came out and it was ok. Had a couple good tracks and overall sounded good, but after I really listened to it, i started to feel empty...the tracks were not as fresh as Reflection Eternal, the beats were very 'clean'. It was as if it was produced for the radio. And now the butiful struggle comes out and all it is, is a radio version of Quality. The shit stinks and I will not listen to it.

I'm happy that you guys still like it, but I'm happy with refection eternal and black star.

in my opinion, reflection eternal=great, blackstar=great, quality=great, beautiful struggle=okay but really poppy. there are a couple of tracks that i dig, but most are, like you said, radio style. check the beautiful mixtape vol. 1 & 2 if you can--they got some tight songs. vol 2 came out after beautiful struggle...its tight. regardless, kweli is off the chain

aclsarescary, i agree with you totally. i think the same thing has happened to a lot of stuff i listened to. swollen members' first album is my favorite, as they came out with newer albums, they just kind of seem too polished now. i definately noticed that with the new kweli cd, its almost too well produced or something. interestingly, i feel the same way about blink 182. their new stuff sounds very made-for-the-radio, whereas their older songs are much more energetic, like they had more fun performing them or something like that.

Dude, like i've been saying, and I don't care how much shit I catch for this, FUCK KANYE. His shit works for Jay-Z... that's it! He sucks on his solo stuff and he's totally destroyed Dilated and Kweli. I don't care how much the artists say they want their music to go this way. I haven't even heard anybody say they're selling out. At least they could come clean with it and just admit that it's their career and they just need to make more money.

Yeah, I dont think Kanye west is over rated. Hes definetly talented, but its not amazing. Talk to alpinecowboy...he'll got into every detail about why Kanye is not as good as everyone says.

Blackstar-Best hip hop album of the late ninties. This album blew me away when i bought it and have continued to blow me away. Mos Def and Talib flow together seamlessly and Hi-Tek's production is amazing. This is a perfect album.

Reflection Eternal-My favorite solo Talib album. It's not as polished as his other stuff, but you can feel what he's saying and you know where he's coming from. There's just something great about this album. Another great album (although it does fall a bit short of Blackstar). PS...I love Hi-Tek's production.

Quality-This album has a couple of really epic songs (you can deny that Get By, however overplayed, is a great song). There are quite a few good songs, and a couple of filler songs. A good album; solid.

The Beautiful Struggle-This album is just that: a struggle (for the listener). We expect so much from Talib, maybe we are setting ourselves up for a let-down. There are a few good songs on this album, however the number of mediocre songs really brings the album down. Decent at best.

I'm not going to say the new MosDef album is good. But I like it. the first listen was really sketchy, and i didn't even listen to it for a month. I went back and had another listen and I thought it was pretty tight.
