NEW Karma system!

the instant results with the new system are addictive. I've just been browsing NS for posts that make me laugh and raising people's karma. I think I need to get out more.

One aesthetics thing, could you guys put comma's or spaces in the numbers...kinda hard to read all jumbled together

now

123456789

comma

123,456,789

space

123 456 789

:)

Basically its like there's 20,000 very active members on here, and 90,000 that only post from time to time.

So everyone was around the middle because there was so many accounts that barely did anything that it just completely fucks up the system.

This way all those accounts just have almost zero Karma.

thing is when it was out of 100 you could tell if someone had good karma or not...now its just random numbers...wats the scale?!?!

well low karma just shows they aren't as active. it doesn't necessarily mean they are a cool person or not.

apparently you're cool, too. ZOMG BE MY FRIEND

I think it's cool that NS has an immediate response, but the scale of up to a million is too much.

you really needed someone from MIT to make the numbers more confusing? cause it doesn't seem to transfer over from what it was.

If this karma system actually works and is effective I like the new change. The only thing I don't like is it just looks ridiculous kind of with all the extra numbers now and stuff, just looks a little more cluttered.

retarded question but how i read it it made it seem like if we rate people lower, our rating decreases too?

its not pointless, its a better way to accurately rate a member's contributions and its more interactive then the previous 1-10 scale.

good job i really like guys.

what is around the average or middle karma rating now

So a couple of minutes ago, a kid posted a funny comment, so i went to bump their karma up a couple points. i wanted to bump them up from an n/a to a 7. i looked at their karma before and then after. and after bumping them up to a 7, their karma went down. so i tried it on another kid to find out that to actually raise someone's karma, you have to rate them an 8 or higher. i think that a 6 and a 7 should raise karma, not lower it.

i just downrated someone, and i actually saw a difference in their karma right away, whereas before it didnt work like that. i like the new system!

I found a glitch, not such a big deal.

After I removed karma for obvious reasons one showed higher then the other..
