Anything for Dew Tour and the X-games? In my opinion this is a good way to judge skiing, as the riders can see for themselfs where they lost their points. Thoughts?

i dont know how i feel about this, i mean sure it seems better broken down but now its just gona be who did the most tech stuff on the largest feature right?

they said they changed this system because of the specators and TV watchers, i say who the fuck cares. it should be all about the rider and his run, showing viewers what he did should not matter at all except for the TV cameras shooting the comp. (i know money says otherwise).

i just feel like this system would promote a spin to win contest even more than the current system does, not like lolo could ever win a big comp with the current judges either

It seems good to me. I think that anytime there is technical judging comps turn towards spin to win / flip to win. people want to win, it's just how it is.

I know when I compete in freeski comps, its awesome to see your score broken down after to see where you lost points in your run and it really helps to show how you can improve your runs... I really like that they have a category for overall flow, seeing as style is subjective- flow is really the best way to judge the cleanliness and soothness of a trick and how it fits in with the rest of the run.

I think its as much for the riders as they now can see what they need to improve to get a higher score. The system is created in cooperation with riders such as Terje Håkonsen, Andreas Wiig and Torstein Horgmo and sofar the feedback from the riders has been very positive.

agree.i think this is a good idea. it will help everyone know why a person got the score they got. its a great way to break it down

i think this is a good system only if they take style/smoothness into account for each trick. a sketchy 10 should not beat out a silk smooth 9 and a dub 12 shouldnt beat a dub 10 just because it has more rotation

as long as they take style into account more than the actual trick it will work out. now that everyones throwing unnatty dubs that look just as good as their normal ones, the tricks are gona get even crazier.

people are gona start throwing more and more dub grabs in their doubles and tweaking stuff out more, which is the natural level of progression. if the judging can push the sport over the next years, which i think it has overall (through joss, xgames, and dew tour) then skiing will continue to get even iller. shits gona look like people are on green screens in a couple years

You realize the main difference is that there is less room for error now right? Think about how before you would get your score at the end of the run; now every hit is broken down to a specific score. Don't you think you would be more accurately judged right after the trick happens, not after the rider does 3 or 4 more tricks?

Also, why do you think tricks would be scored differently where they would just forget about style? The format is changing, not the judges.

i like this format because it allows everyone to see what goes into the score rather than it just being a seemingly arbitrary and very controversial number. I just hope the flow score adequately takes into account switch vs regular tricks, both directions of spinning and penalizes similar or repeated tricks properly.
