NEW IPODS- Warranty

i think its finally time to fall for the whole ipod thing, as i just put my 4th mp3 player through the wash. Considering the whole new ipods came out yesterday ( IPODS ) im thinking about picking up the 4g nano in green, so my question is this: Is it worth it to purchase the extended 75$ year warranty (3 years) ?

With iPods, they usually don't break from a 5-ft. drop (luckily for you). The other 3, well... unless you H2O-proof your iPod, you're out of luck.

I'd say you should definitely buy the warranty since your electronics seem "accident-prone".

My experience is that if your going to buy an Ipod the extra $75 for the extended warranty is worth it. Even though they have been absolutely horrible at replacing mine in the past I wouldn't have got anywhere without it.

My Ipod stopped working the last day of my extended warranty (it wasn't three years) and it took A LOT of effort to get a new one out of them. They tryed every excuse in the book to try not to replace it including "not visible dents to the metal casing"-they road that forever. It was in fantastic condition, and was alway kept in a case. With enough calls and pleading I finally got a new one thanks to the extended warranty!

Buy it at a place like Best Buy with the extended warranty. If it breaks for any reason, they just give you a new one off the shelf. No shipping it in or any bullshit like that. My roommate has the Best Buy 3 year replacement warranty, so he gets a new iPod everytime they come out with a new generation by just throwing his iPod at the wall and cracking the screen. Best Buy will replace it no questions asked, even if it is your fault.

My experience with iPods has been really negative. I've had 2 iPods who had harddrive malfuctions in 2 years, only one of which was successfully warrantied through apple. I can't afford to replace it now, so I'm stuck without one. Although the user interface is pretty nice/fun to use, iPods a generally pieces of shit. So many of my friends have had the same harddrive issues I have, and apple doesn't really give a shit. They know you'll keep comming back for more, so why make it better quality?

i dont know whos sells it, but they make a case called the otter box, thats water proof and still lets you use your ipod through it

yes it is very worth it! i bought one...a longgg time ago..with the 4 buttons and the click wheel...forget what generation but yeah anyway i got that wen i was in 8th grade and last year i wanted a new one..(10th grade) and i sent it in with my warrenty and got $300 check in the mail...so i went to best buy and got a brand new video..VERY WORTH IT!!!!

def worth it, i didn't buy one and got fucked over cause the hard drive failed and it need replacing and i was out of warranty but 3 months, and replacing it costs more than than buying the extended warranty

Ran over by a car? that would be tough without planning it out. My iPod went flying off about a 20 foot drop, bounced off some rocks, and it was perfectly fine.

^^ yeah get one from best buy. they give you sick warrenties for cheap and they cover all incidents and fix it for you when its broken

they put a little peice of paper in the ipod that changes colours if it gets wet.. thats how they know if its drowned.. if you know what your doing you can change the tiny peice of paper and say it just stopped working. but youl have to know how to take it apart to do that he he he

iPods are easy as hell to open up.

There are movie guilds on the internet that show you how. I bought a 5 dollar replacement battery and did it myself in 5 minutes. Way cheaper then sending it away to apple.

You can also get bigger harddrives fo certian models...I have a 3G 10gb and i could have bought a 60gb HD for it a few years back and replaced it. Its easy peezy
