New ipod video and skiing.....

aiight, so i used my 30 gb ipod skiing the other day, and out of nowhere it stops playing. My first thought is "damnit, i broke it!", but then realized it wasn't workin because of the cold weather, even though it was in my jacket. Are there any accesories out for it yet that could solve this problem, or anything i can do to keep it from freezing?

Thanks

that would be bad, put in in a sock, then put a handwarmer in the same pocket not in the sock that would cause damage.

also, put the ipod closer to your chest, it will keep it warmer

true you would need a few socks or something thick between the warmer and the i pod cause they do get hot

i havent really found out how to put my own videos on it yet, got pictures on it, but all i have seen are videos u can buy.....anyone know how to put ur on videos on it?

get a shuffle...they are practically indestructable and i have never hd an issue with it skiing...its perfect for skiing

put it close to youe body as possible or as stated throw in one of the chemical hard warmer thingy's in your pocket with it if it's really cold.

those are by far the gayest iPOD out there, dont blow 100$ on something wiht out a screen.

you dont fucking need something with a screen for skiing. thats exactly what im doing. getting an ipod video jsut for chill, and a shuffle to put all my ski songs on. its perfect and only 100 more bucks

i have a i pod mini. it died on the hill "no battry" then, in the locker room later, it had a half full charge on the battery. cold=no bueno

where do you have it? i keep mine in an inside chest pocket and its been working great in the -10 degree weather at keystone.

if you have a friend who crochets have them make you a thing for it, way more stylish than some sweaty old sock

hold it in a nice thick sock and then place a handwarmer or 2 in the pocket that you are goin to keep it in.. do not put it in the sock with the player cuz it will cause damage..

put it in whatever pocket you can comfortably get the most body heat from. you think having cold batteries in an ipod sucks? try having 2 still cameras and 2 video cameras to deal with out on the hill. if i had extra batteries for all of them, i'd have to brind a fucking suitcase with me. sometimes i hate the days i shoot.

flash memory is the shit. i cant wait till its to the capacity of harddrives. not only does it not really freeze.. it has no moving parts so it doesnt break. you can never fuck it up.. but the nano's screen are delicate.. very delicate

you need quicktime pro. i just searched for the key code on google and got it. then when u have the vid open, go to file->export->(then find down on export settings the ipod video setting and click on it) then click "ok." takes a while for it to export, but its worth it. i had to figure it out for my bro...

they still sorta freeze.. mine did already, but it didnt go down much so i just went in the lodge and it went back to normal

^QT files definitely include sound. I don't know what you are talking about. Quicktime is still real slow though at encoding.

well my version isn't legit haha

but anyways, videora can do about 5 videos in the time it took quicktime to do one (dont quote me on that, but videora hauls ass compared to quicktime, and its free!)

the closer to you body you can keep it, the better. it stays warmer that way. also the sock thing is a good idea.

the best thing for insulation is neoprene....that material that wetsuits are made of....the majority of riders use a neoprene tube to cover their water resevoir tube coming out of their pack to stop it freezing, which would indicate it might work for your purposes

in the 06 buyers guide there is a case that they ran over with a jeep x2 and the n dropped it onto cement from 25 x2 ft and submerged it in water for a while and the ipod played the whole time

hey you should totally go to goog and search mattias ipod armor its it awsome it protects your ipod really well, kinda big but dont even worry about landing on a rail.
