New idea for B/S/T

i've always found the B/S/T thread a bit sketchy... especially since the steeze incident with the saga scam.
so here is my idea:
why don't people just put the item they want to sell on ebay and simply use the B/S/T thread as advertising for their sale. i mean technically thats what it already is but this would just be a more secure way.
maybe ns could even make there own ebay store type thing...
just an idea, but i think that next time i sell something i will do it this was so people know its legit.
and its pretty hard to scam someone through ebay

ps. if this has already been done, obviously i didnt know about it but am simply just supporting this idea.
peace

^but i think its worth it to be more secure, i mean really, on bst your taking pics and choosing prices and everyones basically bidding for your item.
same with ebay, and it really isnt that hard to get your stuff on ebay, it really isnt

Couldn't agree more. I think with the feedback system and if people use than it would be pretty hard to be scammed. But if you go through paypal they usually refund most of your money from what I have heard.

its so much easier to just put shit on here, the buyer makes a choice to buy something just like ebay, you can scam on ebay also. if you have good feedback and have no intention of scamming then ebay is just a bitch

My thoughts exactly.

I feel that you just need to be on the lookout for scammers. If he's shady and there are no pics, then don't buy. Remember, paypal will work things out. If you think he's shady, don't take his shit, just to be nice/polite. If you were doubtful before and you don't get your shit when they said, then file a claim, hands down. You can still go through with the transaction after (I think) and it won't waste anytime in getting Paypal involved. Maybe even tell them that beforehand, that you won't hesitate to file a claim.

Anyways, I don't feel that there is a need for this. If you want to buy on ebay, buy on ebay. If you're confident enough to buy on here, then do it. Nuff said.

Guys, get tracking numbers, get personal details, name, addresses, phone numbers etc..

I think you should always use paypal due to the buyer protection.

Basically set yourself up so that you have solid info to be able to make a claim in the event shit hits the fan.

I live on the other side of the world and i had no trouble in getting a full paypal reimbursement for some punk on this site that wanted to screw me around.

Feedback is paramount. If someone had zero or negative feedback in their profile, then i'd be sceptical in dealing with them, but if people have a few written positive comments, then i'll generally take that to the bank

I think BST should be like craigslist, but less bad. If your selling something, it shouldnt be like a thread, it should be an article that you can edit after it has been made and you get some kind of feedback from the buyer after you sell something so other people know if your legit

go to someones profile and click feedback.... there is feedback so people know if your legit. Plus there is the good seller buyer thread.

Threads work way better then craigslist btw

Always notify a moderator if you find someone scamming people or flipping stuff. We have no tolerance for this sort of behavior whatsoever. People that scam = IP Bans.

I would be disappointed if you had to list things thru ebay. I do not like using ebay. If you are concerned about being scammed, buy local, in person or else you can get ripped off.

Interesting thread. I'm not a huge fan of ebay either, but I use it anyway. Main reasons are so buyers don't have to worry about getting scammed, and because it makes communication much easier than scrolling through a ton of pm's.

Granted, I'm a rep, so posting a list of samples for sale is also easier with ebay, and most members don't need that feature. But, I'm sure everyone likes to get their stuff exposed to as many people as possible. A system like ebay also helps both buyers and sellers to get a fair price for things.

There are other systems that could be applied to BST here, just depends on how far NS wants to go with it. If this subject goes further, I'd be glad to participate in the discussion and even help with moderating it.

There are also secure/escrow payment services designed for safe trading betwen individuals, it's just a matter of making the process easy for members here. Even just organizing everybody's stuff with a light search interface would be great. Check out this website for an example: http://boatertalk.com/gear/gear.php

You can create a login and then you'll get to see the editing interface; it's simple but works really well. It also lets users view in search form or just in a thread listing (like the way NS works now). Helps make the transition easy for members, and you can use the old way if you like it better.
