I love their pizza and restaurant scene.

But if you go like 2 blocks away from Yale it gets a little sketch.

Gritty but there are only really two bad neighborhoods (dixwell and fair haven)

Used to love the club / bar scene there too. The russian lady i think it was called. Unfortunately it closed during Covid i believe. I love Geronimos over there too.

Was at college street music hall a few weeks ago to see Pepper and Iration. Love that venue.

I literally live 15 mins from new haven and never go there.

College street music hall is one of the best small venues I've been to, gets so rowdy. Geranimos is sick, that whole part of downtown is very fun. Best spot there IMO is the owl shoppe, best espresso martini I've had in my life (and I've had some insanely good ones at boujee restaurants I did not belong at). Smelling like cigars for 3 days after the fact is a bummer but it's still just the absolute spot and worth it every time

I love that spot. havn't been there for years but I think i would appreciate it even more now. My dad would bring me there when i was like 15 to smoke a cigar and tell me not to tell my mom when he clearly reeked for cigars

The pizza is obviously on point. How's the crime in New Haven these days. Haven't been in a long time. Never ran into any problems but def had some sketchiness a ways back.

Crime is down substantially, especially gun crime. Still a bunch of shootouts but never in the areas you'll actually find yourself in. Anywhere you go out will either be east rock (very safe), Wooster (decently safe) or college street (safe but gritty). I've never had any problems either but also I got pretty used to it. Hartford is a shithole these days but slowly getting better too

Went sailing there once for a regatta in high school. Idk if their sailing center is in a nicer area or what but it didn't match the image I'd had in my head of "violent shithole". Place seemed pretty chill.

Most of CT is pretty nice. There are a few 'cities' that have rough areas but 99% of the state is beautiful.

77 degrees, sunny, and practically no humidity the past week.

Never been to Connecticut but I like Pittsburgh because of its unique ass vibe, cool fuckin city. That being said there are some really bad / violent areas but that’s any city. Wish they got more snow, place is one of a kind esp in the winter.

New Haven is a little rugged but a fraction of the size of Pittsburgh. Cheese Steaks = +5 points, but pizza capital of the US with legit over 10 brick oven wood fired pizza places = +100 points imo. (Cred to Dunnys too tho shout out idk where it is but heard its pimpin) New Haven is also on the water, so in the event of a mass catastrophe (excluding a tsunami) = +1843 points for being royally less fucked than Pittsburgh.

New Haven also doesn't get enough snow anymore, maybe when I was a kid but for sure not now. Sad bc like Pittsburgh im sure there's many a spots to be hit.

Point against New Haven because i gotta be fair, this might be the whackest thing I've ever seen ngl

This and paving over the waterfront with highway because the mayor was Irish and that's where all the paisans lived
