New gopro?

It seems like every time I buy some electronic device, (computers, phones, ipods) within months there is a newer, better product out there. I'm sure you've all experienced it.

So my question is this -

The existing gopro cameras have been out for a while. Don't get me wrong, they're sick. Revolutionary, you could even say. But when will they be putting out something better and newer?

I saw they just released a new battery back that supposedly lasts twice as long as the previous, which is cool. I guess I'm just hesitant to spend $299 on something without knowing when they're going to update it. Buyer's remorse can get the best of me.

you have to have 2 of the cameras and they are the cameras that are currently out. it should be a good while before anything gets changed because there was just a ton of new stuff put out and coming out onto the market for the existing camera.

The GoPro 3D is actually just a case that holds 2 regular GoPro HD Heros. They are connected by some sort of cable that syncs the cameras.

I saw something about an LCD screen that attaches to the back. Are they that hard to aim that you would need something like that?

nah, i film without it and never miss a shot. its really only helpful for setting up a stationary shot or taking a picture, neither of which i do. plus, it cuts the battery time by so much.
once you get a feel for the field of view its really really hard to miss shots.

if i had a gopro and the lcd mount i'd just use it to watch my footy during lunch, stuff like that..

shit you posted while i was writing. each time it was posted it got a little more detailed and informative though, no harm done

cool - thanks for the info everybody. I guess I've been spoiled by "when to buy a mac." sounds like it's not the same kind of deal, though.

one more questions for you guys...

1. How is the quality on a big TV? I've only seen compressed, youtube footage.

It's for checking out your shots after you take them. The screen is way to small to use properly while filming anything intense. If you think I'm gonna follow cam over a 70 foot jump and dick around looking at that little screen in the process....you're crazy :)

Not gopro but for the contour next year you are going to be able to connect it to your phone via bluetooth for playback and such.

I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, but the 3d gopro is just a case that holds two gopros together with a cable to sync them.

lol
