New Golf World Record??

ya he was 17 under par (i think it said) and par is what you should be hitting on each hole so he took 17 shots less on an 18 hole course than he was supposed to

I find golf to be the lamest shit ever so I have no idea what to compare that to lol. Is that at a professional level?

That is better then professional level. Pro's are lucky if they get 10 under in a round of golf, and that is still fucking amazing. I guarantee if I golfed that coarse I would be 40 or 50 shots over par. hahah.

im gonna guess that any player on tour would light that course up.

i have no idea what track that score card is from, but judging from the yardages, it is no where near what the pros play every weekend.

his score is amazing, but this guy would never shoot a 55 on a tour course.

55 is better than a professional level score yes, but not a professional level player.

best round i have ever put together is a 84, however if i was playing at st.andrews i would shoot a 184.

yaknowwutimeanbroo?

He's pro but not like Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy pro. He's trying out for the second tier us tour. It's possibly the best score for 18 holes ever. It's actually 16 under, par 71 course. 55 would be a good score for a beginner for 9 holes

Ye I was gona throw somthing in there about course difficulty but could'nt be bothered to look it up. Either way, this guy is amazing.

Poor guy, shoots the lights out and still gets owned. Imagine if he had to put that card in for his handicap.. But yes it's a real course, maybe not PGA hard, but no one else has ever shot 55 on a course with a par greater than 70. Not Woods, Nicklaus, Palmer. Nobody. The guy is pro, just not on the PGA tour.

I don't get what you're trying to say. This course was 6700 yards, it's not like he was playing a mini course or anything.

You are a fucking idiot and obviously don't know much about golf. HE SHOT THE BEST ROUND OF GOLF EVER... THE FUCKING WORLD RECORD FOR THE BEST ROUND OF GOLF EVER PLAYED.
It wasn't some three par course at the local muni, it wasn't pebble beach either but it's a fucking course. He is an amateur golfer that now has a shot to play on the pga tour. So no, I guarantee the best golfers in the world would have a mighty tough time matching 17 under on that course.
And if you shot a 184 at st andrews you would be like +120 give yourself some fuckin credit. no one is that bad at golf.
Anyway don't talk about golf if you obviously don't know enough about it to put together a logical statement.

hey, i have a different opinion than you, i must be a big fuckin idiot.

i never said it was a three par course.

i DID say it would not compare to a tour course.

i DID say most professionals could also probably shoot the lights out at that same course.

i ALSO said that this guy probably could not shoot a 55 on a tour course.

i would love to see him make an eagle out front of a tournament crowd. that pressure alone what make you shit your pants guaranteed.

i might be wrong, but if this guy consistently shot 55's, dont you think he would be on tour?

i happen to know quite a bit about golf, more than i care to argue with you about.

but may i suggest you learn to read, then learn how to comprehend information.

im not disscrediting his score at all, its amazing. but someone asked if this is at a professional level, and i gave facts as to why it isnt.

you said yourself he is a amateur, therefore, he does not golf professionally.

ya big fuckin idiot.

Distance doesnt say much either. A shorter par 4 can be more difficult if water lines the fairway and the green is surrounded by traps. 55 is amazing, it also amazes me that nobody is questioning the validity of this card.

Besides, didnt kim jong il shoot like a 19 or something stupid? Anyone can claim anything, you all are gulible

amazing, but all the holes are very short. I haven't played in a while, but none of the holes are even past 500 yards. Without knowing what tees he played or a course rating, it is impossible to tell whether this is very good or if it is amazing, but either way I'm impressed

6698 yards is the total length of that course, which is a near the average of pro length courses...so this definitely qualifies seeing as I believe the course has to be 6500 yards in the first plays to qualify for the scoring record........this guy is also a pro to out of Australia he plays on a different tour though....pretty impressive 2 eagles on the card...and is definitely a world record.

saying this is a world rexord is the equivalent of saying that a really fast time on a ski course is a world record. you cant gauge how hard the course actually is and if it relates. its all trivial you fucks

go out on any high quality course and try sinking a 4 foot putt, only to see your ball go wide left of the cup cause you didn't account for break.

ah the illustrious 9th hole. never made it that far... when I worked out that I was spending more on lake balls than membership each year I quit

A mini-tour player by the name Rhein Gibson did something last week that could be the greatest accomplishment in the history of the game.

He went out with a couple of buddies to play a round at River Oaks Golf Club in Oklahoma, a course he would frequent during his time at Oklahoma Christian University, and shot a 16-under round of 55, a number that is said to have at least tied, if not beaten, the lowest round ever recorded in golf history.

The scorecard, courtesy of Reddit, is above and the club confirmed that the score is legit and the card is framed on the wall.

Just take a good, long minute and stare at that thing and be amazed. That is one guy … making 12 birdies … and two eagles.

Normally when a good player has only four pars in one round, he's infuriated, but I guess when the other 14 holes are either circles or triangles, things are going your way.

Gibson isn't just some slouch (obviously). The 26-year-old Aussie is currently playing on the Golfweek National Pro Tour, and through six events is 12th on the money list.

The best part about the story? A week before his magical 55, Gibson parred his final seven holes at the same golf course to post 60, saying in this full account of the round from one of his playing partners, "You just don't get that many chances to break 60."

So enjoy that incredible score, and just soak in the fact that this man didn't just beat your best four-man scramble score ever, he obliterated it.

That is not near average for The PGA.

The players last week played to somewhere around 7200. And it was considered somewhat short. Most Courses the tour plays is over 7000 and they just keep making them longer and longer and longer. I would say the average is more around 7200 to 7300.

But then again length isnt everything. And that score isnt amazing it just shows that guy had things going the right way for one round. Doesnt say much about his playing ability.

I watched a kid at the high school districts in my area post a 69 which was probably his best score ever, when he probably averages around an 82. Sometimes things just work out.
