Anyone else noticed there’s a fuck ton of new people who ask dumb shit and reply even more ignorant shit? Like the kid in the avvy beacon thread saying buy an airbag before a beacon and if you can’t afford an airbag you don’t belong in the backcountry tf is that

1. be someone that have rarely/never skiied

2. locked down due to covid, need new activities

3. Get suggested to ski this winter by friends

4. Watch videos, get excited

5. Google for tips on buying skis and gear

6. Discover Newschoolers due to google result

7. Get even more excited, start browsing the forums/website

8. Finally build up the courage to ask for advice

9. Sees this thread. Slip into deep episode of depression

10. Never ends up skiing during the winter

No no I’m fine with new members but there’s been a couple who reply to threads with absolutely terrible advice and clearly don’t know what they’re talking about that’s all. I’m all for asking questions but when someone says you don’t belong in the backcountry if you can afford an airbag? Come on

This is a super good idea. There are way too many clowns in gear talk saying some random thing about a ski they love or a boot that's so comfortable for their unique foot.
