New ESPN Blogger gets served...raises questions...

So Nate Abbott, a ski photographer is a new blogger on ESPN.com Freeskiing. It's awesome to see that list of bloggers growing. However his debut blog sucked really bad compared to the high quality content ESPN has been putting out. It was riddled with bad grammar, random name dropping, old news and links to snowboard and energy drink sites? It left me confused because I'm used to reading good stories and accounts of actual ski news.

In John Symms fashion, the original ESPN Blogger and now Powder Mag columnist served Nate with a great response-article calling out his lackluster performance.

The point of this thread isn't to call out Nate (he's one of the best photogs out there) but to ask the question of what do you think is better? Quality or Quantity. Are you willing to see the same news piece on the NS homepage for a week knowing the next one will be a quality, in-depth story with thought put into it and maybe a video OR would you rather have a new story every other day with another e-mail interview with some random person or coverage of a bunch of skiers watching skiing movies with an old edit embedded on the end? I honestly like a bit of both but what do you think?

In short: Quality? or Quantity?

I think it was pretty much just an introduction and I expect Nate will produce more up to date and appropriate blogs in future. Also, I wanna try that Drank, sounds like a god time.

If it has to be one or the other, quality over quantity.

Ultimately though, both is what needs to happen.

That was god awful. Really ESPN? Where the fuck do I apply for that gig?
I love John Symms. Like, a lot.

Well it was just an intro, and he is a photog, not a writer. BUT if we're gonna hate on him for one blog post, we'll have to hate on Freeskier for never really being that good and for sucking LARGE nuts lately. And we'll have to hate on BroBomb for not being nearly as good as YoBeat. And we'll have to hate on ski companies for allowing snowboard companies to take Shane McConkey's rocker innovation and shove it down our throats by making WAY more rev-cam (industry term) options for the park.In short, we've got plenty to complain about, but let's not just aim at poor Nate's first post. There's plenty of sucking to go around.

both blogs are good, theres nothing wrong with nates, i liked it. quantity>quality as long as its not proper shit quality.

For me, its just another angle, another pespective on the ski industry. Atheletes only have a certain perseption and view that hear quite often. I for one am excited to read another aspect of the industry.

You can't get any form of purple drank in Scotland though. I heard it makes your shit buttery ass. =)
