ok first off, i don't wanna hear any 'elan is shit' or 'elan sucks my ass' bullshit unless you can prove that you actually skied on the new sticks!

they just came into our shop on wednesday and their lookin pretty tight! full wood core construction with abs sidewalls. looks like they finally got their shit together after seriously fucking the proverbial dog with their original airtwist crap.

plus the graphics look sick too! black with neon green tribal shit all over it!

I've seen them, whats the deal with the metal piece in the middle of the base under the boot? does it help with rails or something?

 
on the elan website they claim it to be railslide resistant but since that's all i really know i couldn't tell you. when i go to work tomorrow i'll check out the dealer info on them and give more info

Elan skis are sick. The M12's (666's now?) were so nice...Not twin-tip, but for an all mountain they were pretty damn quality...If you can ski...They're stiff mothers...

Their powder skis are real good as well.

I think it's good that they're going into twin-tips. I'd guess they will be really good.

Whats the damage cost wise?

 
i thought they were a joke, then i saw them in person, and i have to say, they look nice, and the flex is sick, the third edge is awesome as well, if i didnt already have stls, i might have bought them

its just a gimic. its a foot long strip of metal in the center of the ski. HOW STUPID! your bases dont take damage from rails, your real edges do. instead of adding this gimic, they should have concentrated on real issues. plus, they weigh a ton, more than madtrix. and the graphics are pretty bad, all neon green. i have seen them in person and was not at all impressed. you can tell they were designed by someone who has never touched a rail or got mor than a few feet of air.

in science class i sat down to fast and you know how you can sit on your balls. well i did and i sat down really fast and crushed them and right when i sat down i started puking and fell out of my chair. they teacher laughed. i felt like i could pass out i wanted to die.-*NWFT*nUkkA

They don't look half bad, actually. It's not a particularly ambitious graphic, though. Anyways, as for performance, can't say until you've skiied them, and the only guy in here who has is 540... so that's the only opinion I'd trust.

your bases don't take much damage from rails eh? you should see the damage i've seen to some bases. after about a year of really hard skiing, some bases i've seen have a groove underfoot from hitting rails

oh yeah, mine do too, but it takes like 5 minutes to fix a base. edges on the otherhand are unfixable. and no, i havent ridden them, but they are heavy. maybe they ski allright, but they are not gonna be nearly as good in the park or on rails as a lighter ski.

ACTUALLY, if you think for a sec, placing a third edge creates another edge to distribute impact to... if there is less impact suffered by the individual edges (33% less) then in theory they should last longer. I think that may be how it's supposed to work.

the third edge idea only really works if you land with the skis flat on the rail though. It doesnt do shit if you land with the skis cranked up in some gay looking angle. But i think it would work sweet. I land flat on rails most of the time, so it may help out a bit. We have them in my shop, and i may have to tatke them out for a demo. And dude, they aren't designed by people who can only get a few feet of air. They are pretty damn stiff, and i would believe they have a ton of pop. Especially in the pipe.

theyre one of the better twins out right now. so stable and theyve got shit ttons of pop too. only downside to them is theyre a bit on the weighty side. demo them... youll like em

 
I'm gonna get some elan ski's (sponsor)as soon as we get them imported in belgium (would be around june). They're gonna have 2 or 3 freestyle models to choose from.

I like elan, they care for the sport, not contest results and shit

man i loved my air twists. i was so close to bending the ski soo much to touch the tip to the tail. but my egde popped out, so i glued in some coffee stirrer sticks for my edge

I used to do crack. I still do, but i used to too.
