New Dirt Jump Photos

Critique and comments are greatly appreciated.
Still trying to perfect using my new flash setup and tweak out all my settings.
Here are a couple of my favorites:

I like the first and the last one's. All the input I can give is try some different angles.

The first and last were the decent. All the photo's were a little bland. I saw what you tried to do with the flash, and i think you should try that idea at night or around sunset. Play around with it you will get it

Take some time to work on your framing. Notice how in pretty much all of these shots your subject is just about dead center...Apply the rule of thirds and your shots will be much more interesting. I did like how you used trees and stuff to frame your shots, this makes up for the bikers being all dead center. Other than that I'd just say get more creative with it and really take notice of where everything lies in the composition--you basically want to make the viewer's eye move around the picture; when your subject is right in the middle there isn't much for your eye to look for... I thought your flash work was pretty good too, just try and set things off kilter a bit and work on different angles like someone else said and you'll get some great shots; you're definitely well on your way though!

thanks yeah and i did notice that i was framing everything in the middle, i actually am usually never framing things in the center
it was pretty hard to shoot at the dirt jumps there isnt much room to maneuver or set up flashes without getting in someone elses way so all my flashes were set close to the jumps and i had to worry about not getting any flashes in the picture

perhaps try shooting a little more in landscape. it'll change your composition a bit.

For the strobes. try having them point perpendicular to the direction the camera is.

Pick the shot.
Pick the angle.
Think about it, make changes.
Then put the strobes down. (if needed)
Shoot.
Look at your shots.
Analyze.
Make necessary changes.

I like to look at the environment, then pick the part that i think is the best to shoot. to bring that DIRT jumping mood out (example). then pick my shots around it. then if i need to, throw in the strobes. shots without the strobes are sick to. my favorite shots are about the biker (well, skier but this is general) not the lighting.
so i like to pick the best part of the area and shoot with that in mind. sometimes of you can't find anything, use the sun. shoot the shadows in the shots. Be the creative and out of the box person that is killing to get out.
