I'm just starting to get into photography and i need a camera to start me off. I don't want anything too expensive since i'm jsut starting but i want something that will last me a few years, at least through high school.

Not knowing hoe serious you are, I'd say get a really compact digital camera. Check out Nikon, Canon and Fuji - they all have decent compact 3Mp, 3x zoom models out just now for under $300 I think. Digital is a huge plus because it's a lot cheaper in the long run. You'll use it a lot more too, because of the size and no processing costs, which is how you're going to learn most. dpreview for everything you need to know.

get the Canon Powershot A60, or A70 the are mad sick

Don't buy a point and shoot digi cam to start out....if I were you, I would buy a film camera...it will make you think more about what you are shooting and the process is more fun to learn...then move to digital if you want. Plus you can get pretty nice film SLRs for what a Canon Sd110 or something goes for. Pentax and Minolta and Nikon all make pretty decent film SLRs for cheap..check them out...message me if you have more in-depth questions

I have the Canon A80 and i love it. I'm not extremely knowledgeable about cameras and it's still easy to use.
