New battereee for IPOD? +karma for help

Has anyone ever sent an old ipod in to have the battery replaced by apple? I have a video ipod 30gig that I think needs a new battery-can you send it in to apple and can they put a new battery in it?
 
yah you can either send it in to apple or if you have like a local computer/software retailer that sells apple they usually have a technician who can replace it for you. Its going to cost you allot more to send it apple unless its still under warranty
 
do you know how much it would be for apple to fix it? i live in crappy town so I don't think we have a place that sells apple, but possibly.

Just take it to somebody locally who deals with iPods. I changed the battery in my iPod Mini myself once.. But I don't think you can do that with videos
 
yea, i looked on the apple site and i think you have to send in the money before the replace it. I'm not sure it's actually the battery, it might just be totally dead, but hopefully I can get a refund if they can't fix it.

HAS ANYONE SENT IN THEIR IPOD TO GET THEIR BATTERY REPLACED BY APPLE???

I have sent mine in before....im not sure if they will give you a refund if its not the battery. But 99% of the time it is the battery that fails.
 
My dad replaced the battery on his ipod mini himself. He bought some kind of kit off an ebay store. Ever since he said its been working great, pm me if you want the name of the thing or something.
 
yeah you can. but if you battery is already dead then that prabably means like your ipod is going to break soon like all of the others do. so i would just wait it out till you ipod breaks then get a new one
 
Nooooo do it yourself!
Buy the battery on ebay or something, i think ipodbatteries.com is an actual website. They cost like 10$ plus shipping and come with tools and a manual. I did this with my 3rd gen ipod and got a battery that lasted longer than the initial battery initially.
