New Audi Hatchback

2 doors can be pretty sexy cars, but I bet that many NSers would be disenchanted from them if they had to lug gear around for skiing, and biking, etc.
 
inb4 someone calls me dumb and gives why they have been able to fit all their shit in their 2 door audi.

in my experience, they don't have enough space. I like to take 2 bikes around with me a lot of the time, with a bunch of other shit, and a lot of the time 2 pairs of skis, maybe more for multiple people, other stuff.

Speaking as a Lexus driver who used to drive a Toyota... yeah it's a rebadged Toyota. It feels just like a Toyota to drive expect more horses under there. The interior fit and finish though is on a completely different level, and on par with BMW and Mercedes. Bells and whistles like sound and electronics aren't really. But then I wasn't that impressed with the Benz I test drove recently either from the standpoint of flashy technological crap, to be honest - Ford beats both of them. If you actually care about that.

The point of buying a Lexus or Acura or Infiniti, all rebranded Japanese cars, is that you get the perks of the lower-badge car (read: reliability and safety) with a nicer driving experience. I just don't trust dat Benz and Audi is hit and miss.

Surprisingly really nice cars right now that might not be the first brand to come to mind? Volvo.
 
really? what about the LS400, the IS-F, LX570, maybe even the LFA? I'm sure all those lexus have far less R&D/"passion" in them because they're "rebadged toyotas" hey? but I'm sure you have had extensive comparable wheel time in various high end euro cars and lexus' to gain a valid opinion hey? I mean, like, Audis are just rebadged VW's...
 
Just general drivability. I've driven Lexus cars, as well as BMW and Audi (never driven a Mercedes), and yes, the Lexuses do have very nice interiors, feel nice, have lots of gizmos,etc, but they were just lacking that tightness and smoothness of the other cars. It felt like I was driving a cheaper car than it looked.
 
Right...I forgot that the every day American will have the opportunity to drive a Lexus LFA. Jesus fuck, how old are you? Can you even drive?
 
I would sort of agree with this. In the sense that it does not feel like a performance automobile in terms of its road output. There are a few BMW models that fall into this category, too, though, like the X5. It's just not a brand for people who are car-heads, it's a brand for people who like quality and comfort and don't really care about cornering, basically. I've test driven more or less everything in the small to mid-size luxury SUV class and they all have their high and low points. Audi interiors right now are not up to par with their competitors and the accoutrements are so behind the game it bugged me even though I don't really even care about that stuff, but quattro feels fantastic to drive. Acura's interior in a lot of cars feels like an unnatural fusion between utilitarianism and luxury which is just off-putting but they're fun as hell; best performing, most fun car in that class by the way? Acura RDX. Re-badged Honda. Lexus RX gives you a smooth, comfortable ride in every way imaginable, but the tradeoff is it's in no way exciting to drive. SRX feels like they haven't changed anything inside in the last 5 years. Land Rovers are great for interior finish, but pretty clumsy to drive and have a terrible track record for reliability etc. etc. etc.

I don't think it's accurate to pick any "Luxury" brand and say it's not on a level with the others because each one of those brands has a customer they're aiming at so they do different things well and compromise in other areas.
 
the LFA was referenced as a testament to lexus' current comparability to european supercars. I'd say they have done pretty well. And please don't give me this condescending bullshit... as a matter of fact I can drive! 6 years, in fact! a pretty nicely modded porsche 951 as well, at real racetracks too! and I even have comparaable experience driving all sorts of audis. bmw's and mercs against lexus' too! (like. my family has owned/owns all sorts of stuff like that! want a comparison of an LS400 vs a 750il tonight?). but really, jesus fuck.
 
Although I guess I shouldn't generalize on Land Rovers since I only drove the LR4.

Even with the hatch though, that vehicle does not have enough room to haul all my shit. My Outback Sport is pushing it, and my old Camry was REALLY pushing it.

But I guess that's what I get for racing and doing freestyle.
 
My thoughts exactly. They have their differences though. I think that if they tweaked the trim a bit that it would look 8732741235x better though.
 
I feel like the A1 could be a potential Mini-killer, depending on how big/small it actually is.

And has anyone else thought about how fucking quick they're gonna be modded? 252hp stock? With just a chip they could be fun as fuck.
 
2 yers ago I got an 03 audi a4 for 8k. Why do you ask? Well it has the exact same awesome quattro system as the 100k a8s of the same year. Not because i want a "sports" or "luxury" car, if anything I resent the fact my car is even considered a luxury car. It was cheap, it has been extremely reliable, it gets pretty good gas mileage, it fits all my stuff, and it is a tank in the snow. Wrong. I bought a 1998 528i for $1900 in absolutely perfect working condition. Found a deal, wanted a BMW (go ahead and call me out on it, bought a car for the brand, big fucking deal. I've loved BMW's since I was 10) and I absolutely love it. I get 30mpg around town (I've hit 36 on the highway), it fits all my ski stuff, and my friends ski stuff. It's comfortable, and it handles quite well in the snow. Do you think everyone should be buying Honda Civics?
