New age of HD filming for everyone

and I think that the resolution in this clip is 1/4 of the finished products res. Just to give you a sense of the detail that these cameras get.
 
thats like 1/8th the full resolution of the cameras. The RED camera can record at 4K or 4000 horizontal pixels. That image clip is only 500 pixels.

if anyones able to dish out 17500 for the body alone, go for it. ha. 

the cheapest lense you can buy for it is 4000.

if that is 1/4th the res the finished product is gonna be insane. i can't wait to see that even though Peter Jackson is directing it and I am not a huge Peter Jackson fan.
 
even though like 20 thousand is alot, that camera is still such a good deal its crazy. its like the only HD camera i can stand. i usually hate HD cause of how digital it looks, but atleast that clip didnt look digital at all.

But this camera is amazing, I admit it. The site has been on for more than a year tho... old news :P
 
and its not that i dont like digital cameras, its just that i dont like the digital look most hd cameras have, it makes me feel like im watching a video game.
 
even if you record at 4K, there is no medium that is consumer accessible, that can play it, there were cameras that could do 1080 or 720 a decade ago. but it is just now that tv shows and videos are coming out in HD. mind you that is still a lot cheaper then anything close to as good. $18000 is not that much, you will probably be around $75000 for a full set up though. still bats Cine Alta at $100,000+
 
Exactly...its not for the "do it yourself home video maker", its just the next step.
