New 4k Edit: In The End-"Spring Time With Jonah"

Yo upload 4k to youtube? That'd be tight or put the 4k file somewhere I can download?

I dont really notice a different in the IQ or res since its just 1080 on vimeo.

I will give youtube a go. Never have really used it but i will try to get it up there for the 4k.

Cool but this is just another edit done with a glide-cam with a home down payment on it.

And 4k to youtube, thats pretty useless

This isn't totally directed at you, but money isn't always going to make for an ill finished product, lots of other details involved in getting there.

Ya man i feel ya there. I prefer not to do all glidecam edits.... But realistically it is the most efficient way to make an edit when you have only one day to film. I hate thats it is over used but its overused for a reason.

As for camera worth. Ya having a nice camera does not make you shoot any better. But having the skill to run a nice camera and taking the time to utilize the full potential of the camera really can take your work to the next level. Its not all about gear, but people act like it plays no part in making films. Altho it does not make or break your work having a camera that works and allows you to work in a way that gets the results you want is really rather huge.

I dont shoot 4k for youtube. I shot this in 4k to test out the firmware and the 4k. Its pointless for the web unless you need to reframe.

I wouldn't say worthless, I'd like to view the 4k file on my imac at work that's 27" 1440p

the only things i didnt like aabout this edit were at times the slowmo shots felt a little overdone and Im not really a fan of your picture profile, its too brown for me.

other than that it was fucked up sick, your glidecaming skills are superb

He had a recorder on board too...

And doesnt everyone glidecam with a mic?

Also, nothing again jcal at all, his glides are good but TBH theyre just as smooth as anyone elses? Im just confused by your comment.

Ya i feel ya my my grading was a little brown. I kinda a like brown muted tones. Haha mayby to much on this one.

But ya i feel my glides are not that smooth. I dont think they are anything special. In all honesty it was a pretty "stock edit". I am still learning the glidecam and still have not bridged the gap of following the rider getting real creative and staying perfectly smooth. Its still hard for me. I dont shoot glide that often.

I was wondering if he was gliding with an external** mic my bad for the confusion, I know that when I glide with my mic on my t2i its so much harder to keep it stable.

Did you use any stabilization on the clips? Maybe it was just how perfect you filmed that opening shot before he fell.

ehh not really, pbraunstein never used an external mic, I saw stept this past week at pc and alex wasn't gliding with a mic, the second half of the new IRPC video arnelly wasn't gliding with a mic.

Fair enough but you acted like he was doing something unheard of, again more confusion.

Very nice edit! Especially love the glide through the birches.

It can be tricky to glide with a mic if you are holding it perpendicular to your skis and skiing fast. There is a tendency to get some wobble if your gliding like that, especially with a dead cat on, it almost acts like a sail.

Most of the time when I'm gliding I'm usually ahead of the rider and stability isn't as much of a problem because your cam is parallel with your skis and there's a lot less wind resistance. Plus it's generally a bit more compelling of a shot to be ahead of the rider, you're seeing a lot more of the trick and the riders face as opposed to butt shots, which is important.
