Today at my home mountain was amazing 8 inches of fresh powered... in kansas never happens. Sun was out all day, warm enough but your not hot. It was however Gapper day! Every non skier and snowboarder in the world it seemed like tried there hand at our sport.
So with that said i saw two things i had never ever seen before.
1. A gapper hit a 20 foot jump, try and do a 180 and then BELLY FLOP. but thats not it, after that he just lays there rolling around, but not getting out of the way. 30 seconds go by... Then comes a good skier, switch 3 and lands right on this guys leg! huge crash, the skier gets up tries to move the kid but a snowboarder comes and does what looks like a well executed ELBOW DROP from the top rope right to this kids face! Ends up this kid had several cuts on his face, and a broken leg from the skier.
2. I saw this next event twice today. Once early in the morning and finally right as i was about to go home. There were instructors all around helping out with the non skiers. Little did they know, that they were moving targets! not once but twice they had their legs taken out from underneath them! These little kids that thought they were Stephen Regenold; were racing down the hill hit a powder clump and took the instructors legs out! It looked like big bowling pins!
Today i wish i had my camera so bad just to get this crazy gapper footage. So whats the craziest thing you have seen on the mountain lately?
