Never buy a Dell, reason 1,394,344

I just spent an hour on the phone with a lady trying to fix my computer; my laptop needed to be ghosted and completely reimaged last week (not a big deal). Did that, now I dont have any wireless internet (I uninstalled that driver and reinstalled it). Didn't work, so I called Dell. She kept sending me to the wrong links and websites to fix the driver when all I wanted was the link for the right driver (I found it online, but it didn't work off of the Dell site). After an hour, she gives me a link that works, i hang up, and the driver doesnt download. I go to the Dell "Chat room IT help" where my dad (very good with computers, does some IT stuff at his business, etc etc) talks to this dumb dumb dumb girl (from America though, thank god for not outsourcing her job!) for 2 1/2 hours to get a driver that would work. I reghosted my comptuer again during this time and went to about 20 different links that she kept sending us that didn't work or were the wrong ones. My dad finally asks her if theres anybody else that might be able to help her find a solution and she says that there is nobody in her facility that would have a better idea than she would.

I hate dell and will more than likely go buy an Apple now.

i love how everyone is all hyped on dell's customer service... or at least used to be. its sooo horrible and on top of that they just make crappy computers. but i guess u cant fix a POS operating system. ill take an apple thanks.

do you still have the drivers disc that came with the computer? If you do the driver should be fine, unless you used it as a coaster or something.

yes apple is dope .... but dell is legit IMO.....ive broken my laptop like 5 or 6 times....all i do is call dell and the next day they have some dude come to my crib and fix it for me no problem....its pretty legit

I would buy an apple if they could run any programs or do anything I wanted to do with a computer.

thats fucking nuts. I really hate windows and pc bull shit. My girl friend is buying a mac in a couple of months so I will look into that and guinne pit it on here computer.

I did. I ghosted my computer twice tonight and reloaded all of the drivers off of the driver cd. EVERY single driver loads perfectly fine, except for the wireless. Apparently, searching google, I've found that this is a very common problem, but nobody knows how to fix it. Everybody ends up buying an external wireless card. BUllshit.

WOO!!!!!!!!!!!! My dad fixed it!!! The driver that was on the cd and the one that the dell people kept telling me to download was the wrong one! baha; the only reason I never noticed was because I got my laptop through a school and they had loaded all of their software onto it, instead of the basic dell stuff.

FUCK YES, FUCK DELL.

my dad just bought himself a dell desktop. im using it for editing, hopefully it will work well...

my dell is hasn't had any problems in the year and a bunch i've had it, but my next comp. will be a macbook of some sort, but not for a while yet

from first hand experience, i can vouch that dell tech support is garbage. Thier laptops suck too.. for the love of god, if you get one, buy the 3 year warranty.

1) if your buying a laptop get an apple

2) if you wanna buy a PC, get a desktop and build it yourself, here's why:

a) it will be soo much cheaper

b) you can upgrade it way easier when you want to. for instance, i want to upgrade my gateway desktop. so i go to www.newegg.com buy something and install it right? WRONG, if you buy a pre-built computer from a big company like dell or gateway, they put in brand-specific hardware so when you want to upgrade, you have to buy the new hardware from them, which is marked up by like 200%. its just ridiculous.

3) unless you are buying a computer for gaming, get an apple. and most games come out for apple eventually anyway.

Its kind sad that when I was 14 I figured out how to fix my moms laptop after she spent hours on the phone with dell.

i dunno, my dell treats me fine.. its a decently fast computer for cheap I can't complain
