yea so at the Powder party in Aspen last night, they handed out the Nepsa awards. and for the Peoples choice... the one that we voted on... McConkey won... does anybody know the song that was in his winning video segment thing. It was like the LOTR II trailer song, but not it... thanks...

they should call those the MSP awards. why not, they win everything. they even won best trick for candide's 810 to rail, when it was in every movie. and i thought sarah's red tape segment should have won best female performance, but MSP won it with ingrid backstrom. oh well.

So, why are you mad that MSP won awards? Does this go back to that phone message on High Five? MSP makes quality movies, and they should get awards. Is anyone gonna doubt Mark Abma as Best Male Performance?

Powder will NEVER give a 'best performance' award to a park skier. For some odd reason, they still can't find any 'soul' in the terrain park(see newest issue of SBC SKIER), but apparently find plenty in the big mountain segments of shitty, over-commercialized, logo shot ridden movies. That being said, Backstrom DID have this year's best female movie part. I mean c'mon, it wasn't even close. Seriously.

Bahahaha... or, you could call it the 'elitist snob' cult. Anyways, my family already owns a country club, so no thanks.

yeah...i guess she had the best part. but how does one rate a powder turn and a cliff drop in comparison to a park jump and a rail? maybe there should be separate awards...

and about msp. i just watched ski movie last night, and realized how bad of a movie it really was. and it is the same for SM2, SM3, focused... they honestly throw footage together and call it a movie. granted, some footage is absolutely insane, other footage is shot beautifully...but no movie feel, ever. the footage is too diverse, and is never effectively tied together.

i feel that a bunch of jib flicks this year had 10X the soul that any msp movie has ever had. why cant they get any love from the powder awards?

when was that ever disputed?

and again, why does MSP get to claim candide's 810 to rail?

I was assuming that guy called Mark Abma a park skier, guess not. anyways, MSP gets credit for it because Scott Markewhiz (sp?) shot the footage and everyone else borrowed that same footage.

yah it seems really slanted towards msp, however tgr did win movie of the year with high life, and not focused last year

tanner was an ass at those powder awards. msp won best pov (point of view) award for their 360 degree camera shot of tanner. steve winter and tanner were asked to come up on stage and accept. winter said a couple of words and handed the mike to tanner. tanner then went off about how he and msp are departing ways cause tanner and his crew are starting their own film company and talked all gangsta about how they were going to rule the industry etc, etc, etc.

i'm not a tanner-hater, but the kid has no class and no manners. his grammer is horrible and he was an embarrassment. very inappropriate that he chose to promote his and cr's new film company at that time.

you are wrong. there were more than a few cameras out...hence my original question, why msp.

and snowslide, usually you'd be dead on with an issue like this. but not this time; im glad tanner did that. its about time msp got a taste of their own medecine.

thats very cool what tanner did. Seperating himself from Steve Winter and MSP...prolly embarrsing the hell out of Steve Winter, its too bad that tanner doesn't have good grammer or a lay degree but he fucking did what he had to, to seperate himself from MSP.
