i need some inspiration for painting my helmet, im stuck on what to paint on it.

help please k++ ;)

why don't you just leave it as is?

and before somebody says that paint ruins the integrity of your helmet, let me point out that ski helmets do not save lives. in cases of serious head injuries, helmets have been proven to have no effect.

(if you really need to see some proof look at this: pg. 50 of Ski Canada Vol. 37 No. 2, Fall 2008, lots of useful and scientifically proven information in there)

^umm i would rather take my chances smashing my head on a rail with a helmet than without one. are you on crack today man? some of your post are kinda redic today, not trying to call you out or anything. i usually like your posts.

well i cant leave it as is cause then it would just be an old sanded helmet lol. and yea i read about that too plus there are no regulations for ski helmets so basicly you can mold a piece of plastic and market it as a ski helmet. anyways ive got ideas but there missing the main component. I was thinking black with something in faded rasta colors etc but idk what that something would be, thats what your for :D

here you are proving one of the things in the article. helmets are risk-enablers, despite not providing the protection they are assumed to have.

some facts: the ASTM F2040 helmet standard: flat steel anvil at 22.3 kph, which corresponds to a theoretical drop of two metres, the impact on a hemispherical anvil is at 17.3 kph, and the impact on an edge anvil is at 16.2 kph. rotational acceleration is not considered or measured.

keeping in mind the above figures, the average maximum speed seen by 650 consecutive skiers and snowboarders at 3 different resorts on wide, groomed, blue-square trails is 44 kph or more. these trails are the sort of trails where the most fatalities occur. skilled young adult male skiers and snowboarders tend to go even faster than the rest of the population. this group is also the most commonly fatally injured.

im pretty sure i have hit my head before and if it wasn't for my helmet i would have been really jacked up.

well that's not what the people making the helmets believe. the standard i posted up there isn't even mandatory, there are plenty of helmets that don't even fall under that standard, despite it being such a low standard to keep.

regardless if your wearing a helmet that meets the criteria or not its going to offer some protection and id much rather have anything, if it means a piece of plastic between my head and metal/wood/snow/ice.

btw i like the ghosting in teh rasta idea, please share how to ghost lol

so smash bare skull against metal, or smash plastic and foam then skull against metal... Even if a helment does not do anything, im pretty sure they help a lil bit...if no it would not be so mandatory in camps and what not... and i can promise you with a helmet ive never split my skull open, but without i have split it

You cant say they dont help totally. I mean obviously at a certain point a helmet will crack like an acorn but until it gets to that part it has to at least help a tiny bit. I agree that once you get going to a certain point its completely worthless though

you can go ahead and believe that, and I'll continue to be safer by wearing a helmet when i ski.

How about we think about it this way? If you're skiing at 44 kph which apparently is the average speed on a blue groomer, the helmet won't do much at all if anything. But if you hit your head on a rail going at a much slower speed, it will most definitely help...
