I am a Finance major and often wear a business suit. I have never owned a nice watch and I plan on asking one for Christmas to complete the professionalism look. I know that sounds pretentious but whatever. I'm really not like that. Anyway, I'm looking for a black watch. Nothing out of the ordinary or unique. *No leather strap*. I know it's tough to find a nice watch for under $200 but i think my parents would be willing to spend around $200. Any suggestions on what kind I should get? If you have one that you like and has been good to you then lemme know below.

If I end up buying one suggested here I will Paypal you like 10 bucks or something.

looking for something of similar design:

Kors makes nice stuff. Plus hes got a really good rep. Someday i'll be able to afford something other than a wal-mart watch. When we win the lottery, am i right?

If you're stuck at 200 I would suggest going to a jewelry store telling the jeweler what you're looking to spend and trying on a bunch of watches. Wear a long sleeve shirt so you can get a feel for the watch, I find that slim rectangular heads are far more comfortable than thick round watch heads. Once you get a feel for what you want you'll be able to leave the store and shop around online.

as for my personal watch, I rock the citizen stiletto (AR3035-56E). you might be able to cop one on ebay for around 250-300. It's sexy as fuck and I'd highly suggest it.

My dad has an older GMT Master (not the GMT Master II but the OG GMT Master) and that is like a 20,000 watch now that he got for $150 back in the 60s.

Like someone said though go to a jeweler and tell them what you are looking for and try some on.

I like that second Citizen you posted, looks clean. Also look at Nixon watches. They don't always make the best quality movements, but I think my two Nixons have lasted as long as my old Citizen did. You get what you pay for, but sometimes you can find a more impressive look at a lower price with Nixon.

Keep in mind what suit/accessories you are going to be wearing it with. A black watch is fine if you are wearing it with a black or grey suit. However, black will clash with navy, brown, and other suits. Also take into consideration the color of your belt buckle, glasses, shoe lace eyelets, etc. This may sound dumb, but fashion is a very important part of finance. Early in my college years I was contemplating whether to take the finance or marketing route. I had the opportunity to meet several wall st. executives and visit several investment banks. They notice everything.

that is some great advice. thank you sir. everyone else is giving great advice and suggestions too. K+ all around.

I bought my husband the Nixon Playa a few years ago, he loves it and it is just under $200...

Nixon Playa with black face is clean.

Lol at spending 200 bucks on a watch when there are a million clocks around you plus your phone.

Such a worthless accessory these days.

this but definately dont go with that colorway cause it looks like dog shit. nixon's the way to go if you want affordable stylin watches. id say you'd be better off with somewhere around 500 to spend on a nice watch but theres some reaso

You can get a good looking fake rolex for 100 bucks. You can def get good looking watches way cheaper than that.

Lol at the one kid that said op should spend at least 500 to get a good watch.

You gotta love consumerism.

its really not. i feel naked without my watch. but i am also in the market for a new watch, so im just going to get this in my threads and see what comes up

I went to the Fossil store the other day just to look around, I knew I wanted black silver and I found the nicest watch.

All black face and metal link band, circular face, really classy looking. I'm just waiting to look at the price tag expecting this to be around $300, the guy shows me and it's $60.

The closest I could get to it was this:

http://www.fossil.com/en_US/shop/men/watches/sport_watches/three_hand_black_dial_watch-am4174p.html?parent_category_rn=30016&departmentCategoryId=30001&N=0&Ns=p_msc1%7C0%7C%7Cp_weight%7C0&pn=c&cm_vc=211555&rec=12&imagePath=AM4174

The band design on the other one was a little bit more classy and not so sporty looking. And it didn't have crystals or the number on the outer face. It was just silver squares.

Murda murda some one ya never heard of

I run off winter time like a platinum Rolex son. Get on that hyphy fucking game platinum diamond for the number 12 on the face diamond for the wind. Dank ass platinum watch with hella class but showing bitches and bosses that you have money and steez dangling between jah kneez they'll be like let me get you this dank finance job on wall street you'll be a 1% er. Then you'll go celebrate the new job and bitches at the club will just ask if they can give you a bj while you watch dancers in a private "do blow and see naked bitches club room" alll because of yo icy ass platinum Rolex

any watch will do for me, but i just want to see whats out there from this thread.

but watches are not useless, a 200 dollar watch may be, but if its waterproof and shockproof it does the job. for my job, i literally need a watch, my coworkers and myself depend on time, thats our job. so by wearing one everyday, ive just become accustomed to it. i cant carry my phone around with me just to check time when im wading around pools and surrounded by water all day, plus if it ever died during the day i would be fucked. i tried that and went through 2 phones in a summer, which cost way more than a watch. since then, i have worn a watch everyday by force of habit. but i mean, if your doing a"normal job" and you wont put your phone at risk, then dont get a watch, but they are way more convienent than pulling out your phone everytime you want to know the time. you can get a watch for like 15 bucks at walmarrt

Emporio Armani makes some classy as fuck watches for reasonable prices. I have the AR5894

AR5894.jpg

there's plenty more. hope this helped.

if you wear the $200 watch for a year, then realistically you only spend $0.5749 per day to know the time. in comparison to a cell phone, that's not a "worthless accessory" at all. Depends if you like relying on something with a battery that lasts a day, or something that has a drastically longer battery life (as well as length of useful life)

You probably just look like shit in a watch or something, so your hating

why no leather band. if you want to wear it with a suit, a leather band is more of a dress watch, while a steel band is more of a sport watch. ignorant people think rolexes are good with suits, because its a rolex, but a dive watch isn't what you want to be wearing with a suit.

reconsider, and I have plenty of recommendations.

If you put 100k worth of diamonds in your teeth, if they last for 30 years, you're spending less a day than a pack of cigs in some states.

Good investment I think.

your logic confounds me. 100k of diamonds in your teeth doesn't have any relationship to smoking cigs unless your using some backwoods bullshit that I'm not used to. I gave you legit facts, and your just gave me something that has nothing to do with anything. Your just trying to argue in hopes of not sounding like an idiot because you have no idea what your talking about.

This guy knows whats up. Classy pocket watch with different chains to go with different suits would be ultimate baller status.

for watch ideas, I have a Nixon player and it's super comfy, although telling the exact time is such a bitch, its really only good for looks and getting within a few minutes of what the actual time is, if your looking to be precise with your timetelling that is not the watch to go for. Plus it has a japanese movement which isn't on the same level as Swiss by any means.

Citizen makes really nice watches, and the ones that are kinetic or w/e that run on body motion are super reliable. my dad gave me his old one from the 80's and its still bomb proof
