Need some suggestions/tips

Hey guys, I need some suggestions/tips:

I spend most of last skiing season getting used to going off of big jumps, but I had one problem: It seemed that I was always off balance. I spending the whole time I was in the air flapping my arms trying to get balanced back over my skies (I was tilting too far back), which is not helpful when I want to try to do a trick. I was leaning as far forward as I could going off the jump, and was still going too far back. Is this normal, or is there something I can do to keep balance?

Also, is there any good way to learn how to do 360s, or is it just trial and error?

Any help would be great.

Thanks!

pop off your toes i was told that you need to over do it a little and then it will just happen

more pop will definitely help you. but for 360s you have to prewind and start spinning after you pop off the lip. once you start your spin try to spot your landing as soon as possible. your probably gonna fall a couple times, but just keep trying

OK, cool, i suspected it had something to do with popping.....wait, popping is basically crouching as low as possible, then shooting up at the last second right?

For popping, try and time it with when your weight is coming off the lip, so that way the flex in your skis will do all teh work. As for threes, I was always landing on my ass and/or not getting all teh way around, and I found that if you try to add a saftey grab to it helped so much. Just being compact made me spinn faster than with no grab and kept me more stable in the air so i was more balanced. Hope that helps!

if you dont want to land on your tails you just have lean back befor the lip and right at the lip pop and lean forward and bring your head to your knees, try it, it may work.

when you add a grab to a 360 do you do it right when you go off the jump, grab then rotate (while holding the grab through the whole air, obviously) or do you go off the jump, start your spin, then start to go for a grab (noob at newschooling)

1. Practice on tramp. tramp can really help your balance, especially when in the air.

2. It helps to have your skis center-mounted, so you are not leaning way far back when you take off the lip.

3. When coming off the lip, don't lean back. a bunch of kids that i see, who don't really know what they are doing go off the lip leaning back, and that throws you off balance from the very begining.

i jumped on the tramp SO MUCH this summer (this is the first year im gonna try all this newschooling and shit) and it helped me alot with air awareness and balance, and i didn't even concnetrate on seeing how many times i can spin around and shit, just work on a simple 360 until your balance is perfect and then i would just add grabs and shit and yeah i got alot better

no i don't jump on the tramp with skis on it would probably ruin my skis and the tramp but i think some ppl make mock skis like outta cardboard or something but don't worry about that, just get air awareness down and the tramp will really help you get balanced in the air

for threes i learned by throwing them hard on small jumps. Lean forward and keep your eyes open- that really helps cause you can spot the landing. And then always look straight ahead and that will help you land flat and forward, cause i know when i just started learning i would get in the backseat and sit down on my threes. just keep trying, pretty soon you'll have it down

i just mean normal jumping on the tramp, no skis. it just really helps with your balance. and as far as leaning back, unless yoiu are doing a trick that involves leaning back when taking off the lip,(backfilp....) don't lean back.

another thing that helps you not to fall back is to put your skis in a little foward triangle like a sno plow when u go off the jump i always felt backwords after my 3's then i saw my bro doin it and i started now i do them like notin

Popping is just like a little physical jump like, say, you were skipping. You dont need to power up as hard as you can, you'll go flying! Practice just on the flat to get a tiny amount of air. Its like that kind of movement.
