Hi everyone, has anyone tested the whitewalker 116 (sammy's pro model) ? i want to buy new skis and WW116 seems good for what i'm looknig for. I'm leaving in the french alps so i don't have tons of powder all the year, so how the WW116 react on slightly hard snow? and how is itgoing for tree runs?

If you have any recommendations of skis feel free to share.

Moment Wildcat 108 will do better all Around if you’re not getting much powder. A 116 is not needed if you’re not getting into deep.

if you want something that will do well in firmer conditions look at the moment deathwish 104 or 112.

they’re all onsale atm too depending on you’re length.

seems like a wide ski for someone not shredding a lot of pow. you can get a sub-110mm waist ski that will be a much better all around ski and still be capable during your occasional pow forays

Thanks for your answer, i already have a, pair of thor 90 and dynastar m-free 108 for bad conditions even if they are worn out. I'll take a look of you recommendations, thx.

So my feedback on this ski is that it is best suited for skiing more technical steeps in variable conditions than it is skiing deep powder. In lower angle deep powder, it doesn't float as much as the width would depict. This is a result of the forward mount and tapered tip.

I ski'd this ski at 11,000 feet at high speeds in steep terrain with variable snowpack and it really excelled! IF that is what you imagine using it for then it should do great.

The WW 116 and WC 108 are not really comparable skis my guy. Don't let your fandom get in the way of the facts. Also getting moments in Euroland is a major hurdle.

Never said they were comparable my guy. Was simply giving other options as the WW 116 isn’t what he needs based off the conditions he’s saying he’s skiing. Which is why I said the WC 108 and dw line up was better options.

exactly what i imagined, thx for your feedback!

I’ve been skiing the WW116 exclusively as my only ski every year for the last 4 seasons and I can tell you there’s no ski I’d rather be on for any conditions the mtn can throw at you! It handles variable and shit snow exceptionally and hence why I keep coming back to this ski every season. And I have the opportunity to ski/own pretty much any ski I want and nothing has come close to this ski. It rips the hard pack and bleh snow like a 106 width ski which is absolutely mind blowing and so fun. If u got anymore questions just ask

WW116s are great if you ski like Sammy. They want to plane up atop the snow (plane as in boat hull) and for you to slarve and slash your way from one jump to the next. I've only skied them at factory rec and would suggest going with the sammy mount / forward of rec for a better balance in the ski. They did not ski difficult / crusty snow great at fac rec, they had a very noticable balance point. They do not float as much as plane, so they need a bit of speed to come alive. They are good on hard pack for what they are, but are too stiff/light to be good in dense variable imho. Pretty much any 115+ ski is going to be great in light / dry snow, so that they ski that kinda snow well should come as no surprise nor is it much of a pro, more of a par for the course.

Honestly, you MF108s will do most things just as well for where you ski, but also be better on piste and a lot better in variable. I would consider something like BlackOps118 (mounted at -2 from rec) instead - heavier and so better in variable, but also more balanced feel. DPS Koala 118 (mounted on rec) is a similarly loose ski, just a tad more dry/soft snow specific than BO118s. Hell, Dynastar M Free 118s can prob be found dirt cheap now too in euroland, and is also a very good ski - especially mounted at +1.5 from rec. I prefer all of the three aforementioned skis to WW116s. Revolt121s are great too if you want something even more progressive / more soft snow specific.

from my POV, Faction Mana 3 (or Candide 3.0) is superior to WW116 in every possible aspect. Skied them back to back within one day. My friend who skied WW116 for 2 years, also tried factions this day and agreed he liked Mana 3 more. They float better, they grip better, they turn easier. Mana 3 has huge 2.5mm edges, while WW116 has 1.7.
