Need Sidecountry Boots - Tecnica Cochise?

Looking for some do-it-all boots: resort, side and backcountry. Hearing some good stuff about Tecnica Cochise. Anyone have experience with these boots, or can recommend something? Expert downhill, 5' 7", 140 lbs. Skiing on 181 ON3P Wrens, 187 Billygoats and 176 Dynastar Pro Riders.

In the end, it's all going to come down to the boot that fits you properly. Which might not be the Cochise, or a boot suited to that niche. I'd recommend trying to get them fitted.

On the note of boots like that, (and I might be wrong on this one), but maybe look into the Salomon Quest 14.

I had a pair of Quest 12s last season, and unfortunately, there was quite the amount of quality issues. This lead to the shell cracking on me, along with the buckles blowing up.

Maybe they've gone back to the drawing board on that one, and improved everything with the Quest 14.

If you have a wider foot to fit - the Salomon Quest 12 and 14 are good boots. Just don't get the dynafit soles, they've been recalled.

Have you skied it? It skis (and walks) like shit. There is nothing that it does better than any other boot.

Skis like shit, total lack of progressive flex, or any valuable skiing characteristics other then being made of plastic, and having four buckles.

Have you even put both on? I skied the Quest 12 last year, it is a soft 120, and skis well if not up there with a good downhill boot. The Quest 14 is significantly stiffer and lower volume. It fits narrower then the Cochise, where the Quest 12 fits wider. Flex wise the Quest 14 is the stiffest, Quest 12 by far the softest, witch the Cochise in between (closer to 14).

Walk mechanism on Cochise is better than the Quest, both in fore and aft range of motion, and how it skis when locked down.

If you try on the Cochise and have too much instep room, try the Garmont Mystic.

Don't know who Alex is. My son is Dustin. Thanks for the info. It is difficult to try them on. I can't seem to locate a size 23.5 anywhere.

Yea that's a bummer - from what I've read the QC on the 2012s has been better. I've been really hard on mine and haven't had issues so far.

I know nothing about technical and what not and haven't read much other than OP. But when i tried them on the walk mode was amazing, i felt like a freaking robot in the things!!! ie it enhanced my walking if that makes any sense
