Need quick crochet help

Okay, I started my hat. I made a pancake and its pretty good, but not big enough yet. But its already starting to curl in and I want it to still be flat. I started off with a good amount of double stitches but now I'm doing single stitches.

My question is, if I want it to stay flat, should I put more double stitches in? Will that work? Or should I continue with my loose single stitches.

Plus, when I'm ready, how do I curve it in? My friend said to only go through one of the V thingy hole strings, but idk.

Aw, for some reason I thought you said crotch help and I was intrigued figuring you had a crazy rash or something. But I don't know anything about crochet, I let 8 year old orphans from third world countries do it for me.
 
But to ans your question, if you want to keep it flat keep doing singles and doubles, when you want it to curve do singles. and go through all 4 v thingies if you are doing double yarn
 
my cat and my brothers dog completely ripped my ball of yarn apart before i could get past making a stupid string so now its just a big pile of shit and i cant help you but i do need some more yarn so i can learn
 
okay, I'll add in some doubles. I'm doing single stitch. Its not really curving in now, so if I continue to do single stitch, I can't imagine its gunna curve enough. Still confused...
 
just for future reference... i find it a lot easier to start at the bottom and go up. that way you don't have to worry about all the stuff you were asking about. all you have to do is skip stiches when you get to the top :)
 
try doing this, first try and do double yarnthen chain 5 stichesdo doubles in these so now you have 10 stichesthen do single doubleyou will have 15then do single single doublekeep doing this until you get to single single single single single single doubleand then do all singlesif this is to small for your head so single single single single single single single doublethen all singles.
i think that is what i doif you try this and it doesnt work i will go make a hat and so it step by step
