will it really make a difference if i get a helmet that's 1cm too big for my head?

the next size up (is the only one available) is a large which is 57cm to 59cm and my head is 56 cm. will it really make a difference? like tolerable or like no, dont buy it

that will be fine. and if it is too big you can always throw on a beanie under the helmet (which is the way to go anyways)

if its still too big after putting a beanie under, then duct tape the inside until it fits

If I'ts a smith your considering there is an adjustment in the back that tighten it up a bit

It depends on the helmet. I'm sure you can get it to fit, but the shell will probably be a size bigger, too. This could give you that Speed Racer look where the helmet looks way too big for your head.
